I'm a bit surprised at the Little House on the Prairie fanclub here.

The television environment is different after the superbowl nipple that rocked the world. It was a close call, the entire planet almost went to hell for that one.

Censorship is always the first step to total control. This is how North Korea for example work. The "free" world is becomming less "free" for every day.

You're being ridiculous. There is far less censorship on American TV than ever before.

[/ QUOTE ]

As long there is censorship at all, it is not good enough. Saying something "was worse before" does not change the fact that it is good ok now.

You're right. Bring on the hardcore porn during primetime. WTF, I wanna know why NBC quit airing snuff films.

Ya, thats my point. I sent the OP a goatse link, Im sure he looked at it, but didnt want to admit it for fear of having to admit that some stuff should just not be put out there.

Calling the bleeping of words like [censored] "censorship" is pretty dumb. If the government didn't allow a communist political viewpoint or something to be aired, that would be censorship.

Re: Censorship in american TV, WTF?!

I live in the UK and I when I was younger I always thought it was strange how the BBC was less censored than the independent television networks.

Then I realised that the BBC carries no advertising, and therefore has nobody to answer to except for the license payers. I used to resent paying for a TV license, just for BBC television, but I now know I prefer it. The BBC has the best quality TV on the planet. The independent networks are all too worried about upsetting their "sponsors".

I saw a film on ITV once where Eddie Murphy was constantly saying "motherflipper"!!. Now that kind of overdub is far funnier than a bleep!

Ofcource they even blured/taped over the label of beerbottles.

Not censorship.

Then came the most supprising, they even blured the clevage of a woman having a bikini top!

[/ QUOTE ]

She probably had her nipples hanging out...we get pretty uppity about the nipple for some reason. Go ahead and show 99% of the breast, but if the nipple slips you've got some big problems.
