Well I run like crap in donkaments, I haven't even cashed in forever... but good thing for me I'm a cash game specialist.

IMO, raise flop. I never smooth call this flop. I raise it up (to $18 maybe), and if he shoves over me, it's an easy fold.

If he calls, and checks turn, I check behind. Then, because he's thinking "OMG I HAVE AA AND I DON'T WANT HIM TO FOLD", he'll make a smallish bet on the river that you can call. In the end, you don't stack off with top pair. When he has something weak like KT, you get value out of him thinking his K is best when he bets into you on the river.

I guess it all depends on the read you had on him (I obv don't know his stats or anything).

ah makes sense. reason i didn't raise flop this time is because people fold so much when i raise donk bet, although flop is so drawy i guess i can expect a call. sometimes i play bad, i admit it.

corsakh 11-14-2007 10:38 PM

Re: ***uNL Microbrew Thread*** NOV 2007 (ot)

Does not make any sense. The only reason you might want to raise the flop is to charge the draw but then wth are you doing folding it. Not to mention turning TPTK into a bluff.

No, it's just that I don't play well at higher levels, I play scared. Obviously I don't play scared at 25nl/50nl.

I play for fun, not as a professional. I have a job that works me anywhere from 50-60 hours per week, so I don't rely on poker for income. If I can have fun at 50nl and 25nl, make some solid supplemental income, why move up if it will stress me out?

FWIW I have no problems pulling the trigger if I think someone is making a move at me. I guarantee I would have a hard time making this correct play at 100nl.

I would just call flop, call turn, call river. he is never potting on a draw and a raise will just blow him off his KQ/KT and allow him to play more correctly. way you get the most value here is by making use of that lovely call button.

thing85 11-14-2007 11:25 PM

Re: ***uNL Microbrew Thread*** NOV 2007 (ot)

Yeah, I like that play too.

About folding to a push - really all depends on villain. If villain is a decent player, a push by him in response to your own aggressive play is usually a sign that villain beats TPTK, at 50NL. Unless villain is a LAG, you can safely fold TPTK at 50NL. It really all depends on your reads/stats of the villain imo. We weren't really presented with that in the hand.
