Yeah you're right, I shouldn't have assumed you wanted them in the title game.

Maybe you do, but assuming it was bad. Sorry.

ESPN folks need to start mentioning OU for the national title. Doesn't get more clutch than pwning the #1.
Lol Georgia, if you don't win your division you don't play. Pretty easy :O

FWIW I don't like Ohio State. At all. I think they'll get crushed against either OU or LSU. (I don't see Georgia being voted No. 2, although stranger things have happened.)

Re: POG College Pick\'em

If it was an undefeated Hawaii or a one-loss BCS conference champion like Ohio State, I'd take Ohio State almost every time. But I hate rewarding teams who lose twice, especially when the way the system works right now, if you want to win a national title, every game is supposed to be a playoff game of sorts.

I respect a 2 loss SEC champ way more than a 1 loss BigTen/Big12 champ. Especially when said losses never occured in regulation.

What I'm really rooting for Georgia because that'd be pretty BCSloltastic.

I don't know, the battle between undefeated teams with a bad SOS and one- or two-loss teams with much better SOS is always tough. No right answer.

Frankly, if I ran the NCAA, and could make it happen (which I wouldn't be able to because money talks), I'd eliminate conference title games, I'd make each conference be 12 teams or less, and I'd make everyone in every conference play everyone else in their conference at least once, so that if there are ties, they are decided by the heads-up winner. (Three-way ties would be a pain, I guess ... split that one up with points margin in games involving the three teams maybe.) If you're in, say, the ACC, you play 11 conference games and one out-of-conference.

I can dream.

It wasn't so much the fact of the date but the lack of championship game.

True or False.. if MU was lucky enough to end their season without a championship game they would play for national title.

I did not mean to include Big 12 in that statement. That was an error.

Then again, teams in conferences with conference title games who don't make the game itself are almost never in that position.

I hate BCS crap so much and thats why I'm being antagonistic. People should play by the same rules to get into the title game. If I'm a conference I don't schedule championship games, my big rivals at end of year, etc. Every big game is early. So so so so so dumb.

Go Georgia, expose the system.

I'm a CSU/CU fan so I don't have a horse in this race. Want to make that clear so there is no hint of homerism.

I totally get this statement, and I totally agree with you given what the system is.

Also, I absolutely DETEST preseason polls.

Re: POG College Pick\'em

I am a fan of a playoff system where 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5, followed by 1 playing the lower advancing seed and 2 the higher. The winners of this round would then play for all the beans

All of these would be played on neutral sites. IMO these games would be a huge draw. Since the Sugar/Orange/Rose bowl would lose some of their significance with 1-6 out of the picture, maybe they could rotate being the championship game

On ESPN, they are down 14-0 with like 8 minutes to go (I lag)

antidan444 12-02-2007 01:04 AM

Re: POG College Pick\'em

I've always been a fan of a similar playoff system, with the five games in the tournament serving as the five BCS "Bowl" games (or if you want to do a four-team playoff, use three of the Bowls and rotate it each year).

I fail to see why this wouldn't work for all parties.

And if they care about tradition or whatever just follow same bowl guidelines. If the winners of the tournament are Pac10/Big10 champs gogo Rose Bowl.

Never mind, that means teams get two (or even three) BCS payouts. That won't fly.
