I'm thinking that it might be good to forget the 'polite' and emphasise the 'relaxed' in the underblurb, but reinforce the polite in the sticky and the modding. Get people in, then let them feel the vibe.

If your Mom was someone like a character Dianne Keaton plays it would be OK if she read threads you post in. Can't say that about most of the other forums.
