I think lots of you are understimating how easy it is to lose a mil. Lots of great poker players have gone busto regularly. Sports betting, table games, bad run, bad investments, drugs etc.

I think lots of the people who have done very well have loads of gamble in them, in some cases they might be borderline degens who just happen to be really excellent at poker. I would be surprised if noone went busto by playing higher and higher and say losing it all in the big game, where blowing 1 mil is super easy.

Sure. Take the 1K/2K game for example. Playing with the best can make for the highest variance. So a 500BB is much likely if not certain. Oh, that's 1 million already. The other bad thing with this game is that you can't really find 4 1K/2K tables running at any time, so any normal downswing can take longer and be more painful and generally have more serious effects on the player. OTOH you only need 20K to take a shot at the game.

Dean,

Ive been looking over my PT for the last two months, and I think people underestimate just how bad someone can run. It seems that someone will always have to run worse than everyone else. If someone runs bad, but remains in a juicy game, they could run through a mill pretty fast.
