Has anyone seen the tournament schedule for the MGM poker room? Nothing on their web site, and a Google search was useless.

I don't think they have tourneys do they? Greektown is probably the place to be for that

Does detroit city intentionally limit the size of the casinos? I think that they could find much larger edifices to have bigger ones to relieve the crowding and long lines.

I kept hearing that all casinos (at least the "temporary" ones) were supposed to have the same amount of gaming space. That was the rumor as to why the poker rooms weren't bigger. I don't know if it's true or not

They've had PLO for about 4 years now....maybe more. It runs on Wed (or is it tues?) and Sat from what I remember. No, the $5-10nl hasn't run all year (except for the few hours MC was on strike)

I've never seen anything in Michigan law restricting size. However, the casinos have to have an agreement with the city in order to apply for a license and I would imagine that Detroit has a City Policy regarding this issue since voter approval was required to permit gaming at all.(size and location are the public's primary concern) They also require that they be located on sites in high impact commercial or industrial zones. And, since you can only put together so much developable land in a fully developed, land-locked city, property becomes dramatically more expensive as you start talking about larger parcels.

The PLO runs on Wednesdays at Greektown. The round by round is usually on the weekends.

True, but of all landlocked cities, Detroit looks like she has the most available land and buildings. I was read an article about "urban spleunking" that suggested Detroit was a jungle of abandoned buildings.

UPDATE on MGM vs MCC PLEASE

I live in Chicago, but family is from Michigan, and I will be visiting Detroit over the holidays. I must get away and play some poker to save my sanity during my visit. Now that MCC has opened its new facility, I'd like some updates as to the room, NL spreads, can you call in, no smoking ( I hope), etc... I've only played at Greektown, and it was the absolute pits, a prime example of how bad a bad a poker room can be run with no competition (cough, cough, I can still smell the smoke).
