Re: **Official** uNL Microbrew Thread - October PART DEUX

So today I decided I want to learn HU, to improve my handreading skills. To anyone who tilts easily: NEVER PLAY HU

I have been hit n ran about 7 times, and the variance is sick. Ive been running $200 below EV (PokerEV, allin luck tab). My last 1k hands I shipped 8 buyins. Anyway, I thought this would be worthy enough to post in the brew. Im finally having fun playing poker, and just got done with a 3 hour session. All is between 2 and 3 tabling

Looking forward to tomorrow. Hoping to get in 3k hands tomorrow.

btw... the rake, its absurd! Thank god for a lot of rakeback

Wow rake about size of SB HU every hand. I imagine you need to be significantly better to beat that, luckily most people are awful HU.

Meh, even at ipoker, theres a few decent HU guys. But there;s so much table selection available, so I try to leave and not let my ego get in the way. Greatest thing is when you get someone on tilt. I had a guy calling 200 BB with AQo in a 4bet pot on a rag flop. I had KK, he spiked his Ace. He hit n ran, gg me

fwiw, 70% of the people who play HU buy in for 20 BBs, which sucks :@. People who buy in full tend to stay untill they either lose their buyin, or just play for hours :P

I have 43% rakeback, so that helps a bit but yeah, the rake is just insane. Eventhough its capped at $1

Funny I am starting to see people claiming that they like Brystmars video's ... are there other haters like me present ?

[/ QUOTE ]

Meh, tbh he is teaching alot of people things so he kinda gotta give out his view as much as possible.

Which leads to the teaching voice, ive prob done it in my videos. Id be suprised if you didnt 'preach' or 'teach' something in your video also.

However i do wonder how CR find these "Pros", do they just pick people who win over 40k or what???

Ok so CTS's latest CR video just turned me into a huge spewmonkey for my session...playing like 28/27/8 and obviously not good enough to pull it off the way he does since I only W$WSF about 35%. Ah well it was fun as hell and I got in a ton of tough spots that I think I played pretty well.

Atleast it's a positive graph but there were too many days where I played my D game instead of B game.

Standard play is tearing up a table earning lots of BB's, and then when I finally get involved in hands where even a monkey could tell I'm beat, and I have a decent hand like an overpair, I somehow decide I should get my whole stack in there anyways.

Like when some calling station, very passive, minraises me on the turn when I obviously must be beat I somehow subconciously decide that I should reward them for finally showing some aggression and hand them 60BB's more.

The first 11K hands were NL25, the rest NL50:

Graph1:

graph2: Only the hands where I either called or raised preflop, so excluding the hands I folded in the blinds

And my position stats. Quite interesting stats from the blinds?

Also, past hand 30k I decided to throw some SPR (stack to pot ratio concept from Professional No Limit Holdem) into my preflop play. This means that before opening/raising, deciding how much I want to be in the pot relative to the remaining stack sizes. As the book explains, with hands that generally make top pair, you do not want to have the pot be around 13 times the remaining stacks on the flop, so you either want the pot to stay small or large.

So I generally opened up from early position with bloody silly minraises etc with either pocket pairs, high aces, but also with AA/KK, so that when I got 3-bet I got the pot to the size I want it to be, and when people just call behind, I try to make the best of it in a small pot.

Here's one example. I had a solid but very agressive player sitting behind me, and he has a very wide 3-betting range, especially when someone keeps making silly minraises with either strong or weak hands, and vs him, I want my SPR to be between 7-9 when I have position on him. If he hadn't 3-bet here, I was only going to play a small pot with queens regardless of board.

This play may seem bad, but if you read PNLH SPR-based preflop play sure has merits.
