VPIP100% got it quite fast, I think. At least up to NL50 or so. I played break even for more than a week now. You really can't say. Or if you think you'll manage to be such a favorite that you can maintain a winrate of something like 5/100 PTBB on NL10, 3 on NL25 and 2 on NL50, you can calculate yourself. Add boni and potential rakeback.
And btw: you need to know the game to have an hourly wage of over $100/hour. Take it slow or frustration will be overwhelming.

I notice that people like to go broke with 7s a lot. And A4. I have no idea why but I've seen it quite a few times. Well in this case he has a draw I suppose.

Has anyone here heard of people playing their way through college? I just got my FAFSA results and well....

I'm just curious if anyone's done it.

Of course there are lots of them. But they are all quite experienced players and put a lot of effort into learning the game. But have you ever played a hand? Sorry, I don't want to be offensive. But I have the feeling that you are going on the poker hype and should figure out if you like the game in the first place. I don't think you should concern yourself with paying your bills with poker when you first start out.

I enjoyed Rolf Slotbooms book a lot

I didn't enjoy Ciaffones book that much (He has an pure omaha book besides PL and NL Poker), but it is also ok.

welp back from tha concert...

RAH: hand 410 was a me playin this donkeyish dude HU 250bbs deep. it was a really fun HU. i was played extremely aggro against him and he was playin as passive as could b and missin TONS of value the first half of our HU match. an example of this was i have JJ and raise pre. he calls and flop comes K84 rainbow. i bet he calls. turn brings another king. i bet he calls. river is a blank and i make a thin value bet on the river and he calls with KQ. lol. nice.

but basically i am just betting all day against him and then hand 410. i raise with 99 and he calls. flop comes A98 rainbow. i bet he raises i reraise he turbo shoves i turbo call. he flips over A8 and mhig. ship it.

he then goes on to explain to me that i must work for AP cuz everytime he gets a hand i have a better one. bahahah. (or maybe u should try to get a bit of value when u hit ur hands fishy boi )

Thac: i dont want my trip report to be all off topic or Emc and Matrix will lock my ass down and then my super long post will b for nada and i will b forced to cry myself to sleep. but yea i will b goin to a nuggs game on friday. we still dont have tha tickets in our hands but rumor has it that they r court side. Any hints on how to learn omaha? The lack of theoretical information really keeps someone like me from trying this game.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have the same problem. I just dont GET Omaha.

[/ QUOTE ]
0. Learn to read the board blind.
-You won't believe how much money is made in Omaha because beginners misread their hand (try to make full houses on double paired boards, use 3 cards to form a straight, etc.)

1. Omaha is a drawing game.
- Starting hands aren't as important as in HE
- Draw to the nuts. Play hands that can flop multiple nut draws.
- Don't get overexcited when you have a set
- A nut straight on the flop is a very vulnerable hand (but you need to protect it of course).
- If the board pairs, somebody has a full house. If a flush appears, somebody usually has it.
- 3-4th nut full house is often a weak hand.

2. In PL/NL Omaha, the nuts isn't the nuts
- Freerolls are the biggest edge you can get in big bet omaha.
- Be careful when you might be freerolled. You will have to fold the nuts to huge bets when you are likely being freerolled.

3. PL games are all about manipulating the pot size. The ratio of your stack to opponents stack to the pot is very important.

It seems everyone's moving up to SSNL except me

gl thac, kaz , antinome and everyone else ...

Looks like I'll have NL50 all to myself to skin some more fishies before joining u all

BR ~ $1900 now (from ~900 feb 8th) so only $700 to go before I'm going to consider playing some NL100 , though I might wait to 3k -such a NIT I know - lst time I played 10k hands I took a shot @ 1500. I'm going with kaz's bigger cushion recommendation this time FT variance minimising Win.

Meh When I was in your spot I was already playing at 100nl. Sure I had to move down again 5 or 6 times (lol at losing a buy in and moving down ) but I learned a ton at the 100nl tables...

Right now I'm at 1830 bankroll and can't wait to move up to 100nl again, but I'm gonna stick to my bankroll limits I set for myself. I swear I'm going to grind out those last 170$ at 50nl. ;P
