Would you like your old man to tally all the [censored] he had to pay for on your behalf?

I think this issue is a bit closer than we're making it out to be, but I'd probably just eat the cost of the glasses and make my mom cook me some tasty Korean food.

i would expect my parents to offer to pay. i would never ask them to. given your mom offered, i would accept. given your mom offered, your dad now refusing is bizarre.

This is the correct answer in any normal parent-child relationship.

I think its weird that they dont pay up. You did them a favor.

You waited 3 months?
You act like because you "suffered" without glasses your parents owe you something.

Your mom offered to pay, get that money right away or forget it.

Ok, we all have/had parents, so let's not be suprised by the Mom is a "softy" and said yes and Dad is "hard-nosed" and said no. This good mom/bad dad (or vice-versa) is in almost every family.

Just move on. It's only a few bucks and not worth causing grief between you and your old man, or causing your Mom and Dad to have a disagreement about it.

I guarantee when they pass on this will seem trivial.

Also, they spent big bucks raising you, so there is no way you are going to end up not looking like a tool by pushing this further.

I don't think this is obvious at all. You should seriously consider taking legal action against your parents.
Your mother instantly told you that they would pay for it.
Your father later declined. They are confusing you.
This should be settled in a court of law.

I can't imagine this ever being an issue with my parents, and they've beaten me unconscious. That's [censored] up dude.

I dont know, they made the decision to bring me into this god forsaken world, and it's their job as a parent to take care of me,. Saying "well look at all the stuff he's done for you!" is stupid imo. I appreciate what my parents have done for me, of course, but in all reality it's their job to do that. Just like it'll be my job when I have kids to provide for my children, and not let them know everytime I have to spend a buck, or take time out of my day on their behalf.

LOL, what I just said reminded me of this (starts at 2:16)

Also, that excuse in the frame of the OP is stupid also. The OP did his parents a favor, and his glasses got owned. He's very well within the scope of reality to demand reimbursement for them.
