Someone should create a thread about the top poker players and the businesses/other sources of income these guys have. I'm always curious how Matusow plays high stakes but always seems to lose. Where does he get his money from?

What about Helmuth? Losing 500k in a day playing chinese poker with ivey is just insane. Exactly how much money do these people have?

nice post Butcho.

No question that is the most compelling/intriguing line in that vid. He displays self-awareness and br management despite the degenerateness that is almost requisite to be a world class poker player, which is more than most of us can hope to do.

Obviously his kids and family and obligations bring him infinitely more happiness than degen gambling; but I interpret the wistfulness as, what he'd be doing if he didn't have responsibilities.

God I hope I never feel the urge to bet 6 figures on a [censored] sports game.

Does Barry G. invest in property or stocks as a back up in case he had a bad run. If he has done that, any squeeze he may be feeling might be caused by a temporary blip in those investments creating a short-term cash squeeze.

He hasn't been betting lately because he hasn't got the money to risk.

ill throw more gas on the fire... what about this possibility... BARRY LET HIS HOUSE GET PUT ON CARDPLAYER TV BECAUSE HE IS RAISING INTREST ABOUT THE HOUSE... BECAUSE...HE IS GOING TO SELL THE HOUSE TO RAISE CASH.

i am not saying this is the case, i am just bringing up the possibility. i mean, what other motivation is there for barry to showcase his house besides trying to give the house more panache? i hope this is not the case, because i really like barry and the style of poker that he plays. barry gives the pursuit of poker lots of respectability. i mean, one barry greenstein makes up for 20 shipp shipp mcgipp types.

No - it's part of an MTV Cribs style series, and they've been to lots of players' houses. Unless you think Brunson, Benyamine, Negreanu etc are also busto and part of the same estate-agent-baiting conspiracy.
