Just an observation about New Scientist...I've been a casual reader for a couple of years and some of their articles are absolutely ridiculous and show little understanding of the actual science they're reporting on. It seems like a *science* tabloid more than anything. Anybody else feel that way?

Yes. Years ago it was quite good but no more. Unfortunately it's still the UK's top science magazine.

1) Quit being pussies and switch to nuclear power plants.

[/ QUOTE ]

Reliance on nuclear is going to increase hugely in the next 5-10 years, and only get worse thereafter.

And nuclear is clean in the sense that no CO2 is produced, thus meaning it has no carbon footprint (or very little, at least). In the UK, at least, tax benefits and other financial incentives to "buy green" and lower your carbon emmissions is making nuclear more and more popular in I&C.

The obvious problem is the waste produced - at present there are very few solutions that don't involve just burying it in vast concrete bunkers.
