Local news says they have arrested a couple folks. No surprise... just a jealous ex getting even. The girl had her ex forcably tossed out of Luxor a couple times over the last months. From LVRJ:

Denvers has a child in common with the girlfriend of the victim, police said. The motive is believed to involve visitation privileges and other domestic issues, they said.

Porfirro Duarte Herrera, 27, was charged with being an alien in possession of a firearm. Other charges are expected to be filed against him later today, police said.

I was staying 62nd floor of THE hotel and helicopters were circling all morning from 5am on (it was pretty ironic since all day my wife was commenting on how quiet the room was). When we left the entire road behind the tower buildings at the Luxor was closed.

Anyone got an update on why this guy was killed?

Multi-wing hotels often mislabel the floors in separate wings so that you're forced to end up at the right room. Example... Tropicana Atlantic City, South Tower, West Tower, North Tower, floor numbers are #5-#28, #31-#50, etc - or something like that... the top floor in the West Tower isn't actually 50 stories up, just the 50th labeled floor...

So yeah, person might have been going to the 62nd floor when they rode the elevator, but it wasn't 62 stories up.
