claude,

Great recs all around. However....

La Randia... Haha, gringo. It's La Rondalla! I agree, this is a great fun divey Mexican place w/ tasty food and drinks.

Majoul... Good recs, horrible spelling! Medjool. I feel the same way as you. I am not so much into places like this either w/ a little too much of a clubby vibe to them, but it's often a fun place and on nice days the roof is a really great place to hang out. However, it can get super crowded and annoying on warm weekend evenings.

i would just add that for those flying to sf, oakland is one of the 5 best airports in the us, sfo is probably one of the 5 worst.

I've been to the San Francisco Opera House twice and it is the most beautiful building I have been to in the United States.

This one should be pretty obvious, but ATT/SBC/PacBell park for Giants Games. This is my 2nd favorite baseball stadium after Wrigley field. The view is just spectacular.

QFT. My wife and I went to the SF Ballet at the Opera House last weekend. That is a SPECTACULAR building. The ballet, by the way, only cost us $18 for way-top balcony seating.

SBC Park - or whatever they're calling it now - was masterfully designed. Every time you walk into that building, it's like being transported to the Willie Mays era. It's exactly what I imagine things looked like when my grandfather went to games. Until you see that they're selling wine in the upper levels.

Cliffs: Opera House and SBC Park = great calls.

For those of you taking the family, or who enjoy these types of things, there are two places I recomend. One is the California Science Academy (where the previously mentioned Steinhart Aquarium is located) and the SF Zoo. Plan on spending the entire day at either one if you are going to see everything. For restaraunts, I suggest:

Breakfast- Pergamino's (they say they have the best waffles in the world; I'm not going to argue, cuz they are awesome)

Lunch- Swiss Louis (Great food, every seat by a window. Watch the bay or watch the sea lions.)

Dinner- The Franciscan (Pricey, but the food is great.)

I'd also recommend Polk Street Station for any meal if you are looking to stay on the kinda cheap side. It's kind of a hole in the wall type place, but aren't most of the best restaraunts?

Cafe du Nord is another great small venue, with more low-key pretty sounding and jazzy stuff, though they also do some cool rocking indie shows.

Oh, good catch, slipped my mind, I agree.

Somebody who knows the club scene better than me should do clubbing recommendations.

I speak not a word of Spanish, and my English is also weak.

One of the very cool bay area things is the Thai Buddhist sunday brunch in Berkeley. It's kind of an ordeal and the food's not that great, but it's an awesome experience to do once.

I don't have a lot of experience with the city, but I went to a Giants game and it was fantastic. An excelent modern ballpark, any baseball fan who gets a chance should definetly go.
