bobbo, 100% agree i'm never folding hand 1. hand 2, I might push the turn, too, depending on the action (say SB checks, and BB bets a blank - this might be a good time to push) but I don't want to get it in on the flop...

works for me

It's way better to play passive when you have the NFD.

In hand 2 if SB is aggro he could have the naked A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] FD , and if you play it passive and only stack off when you hit a flush you are doing exactly the wrong thing. The nice thing about getting all-in on the flop is that you are doing a sort of okay thing whether or not you are currently ahead or behind.

In hand 1 you have a good bluff catcher and the NFD so just calling the CR is kind of cool. If a club hits you try stack off, and if not you try to show down a small pot.

i probably just call the flop in hand 1.

hand 2 is fine. lol @ the thought of folding when a ton of villains range is 78dd 98dd 97dd qjdd axdd etc which you have croaked.

nice post cbloom.

Generally i think the key variables in these sorts of hands are what villain does with strong one pair hands and what he does with other flush draws, and the board texture in connection with these two categories.

Thanks for the thread wpr; this is a better topic than your OP implies.

Here's a hand I played today which illustrates why I think these hands are not well played. I raise A4hh in the CO, get called only in the BB (unknown). I bet a JhTx8h flop and call a small c/r. Turn brings the 4h

Better check the deck.

Looking through some old posts and basically in hand 1 if your opponent was competent (he wouldn't be raising like this if he was...but say he was) would calling here be standard even if you knew he wasn't gonna pay you off if the flush came in and he had 98 for example? Should we just play super aggro in spots where our hand is likely behind but if we turn the better hand our opponent will shut down?

Like if we call hand 1 and the turn is the jack of clubs...88/89 is definitely gonna freeze (89 moreso on being done with the hand).
