The kiva.org site is really interesting, I definatly, might do something like this for my sister, who I think would really like this gift. Thanks for the info CMAR.

I bought my wife a $200 gift certificate. I'll also get her something small and wrapable and put the the gift cert in a card or something. Quick and easy to do and I know she's gonna love it (if anything, it's gonna be tough for her to narrow it down to 8 loans).

I also posted in OOT where it's spawned a bit of a thread, including a post from a guy who's already been involved with Kiva and been paid back:

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, you just print out the gift certificate on your own printer. Actually mailing stuff out would cost them money so they don't do it. It's really just about the gift code number. You don't even have to give them the gift certificate, just the code number. You could even design your own gift certificate if you wanted.

It's like when Stars had Amazon.com gift cards in the VIP store. There was no actual card, they just gave you the number.

The person you give it to just types the code number into the redeem page and they're good to go (obv they have to setup their own Kiva account).

So, you could do it the night before if you wanted.

Sample gift certificate is here:

Good luck, make some $$.

On a totally unrelated note, today I had a pretty interesting day.

I stayed up all night w/ my roomates drinking, smoking, and playing a session. So I decide at liek 9am this morning, that I'm going to go to the bank get some cashflow and just go play a live poekr session at our local casino. Bank is closed observing veterans day (thought veterans day was sunday, oh well). I decide [censored] it, might as well go to class. Get to class, quickly fall asleep in chair. Wake up 4 hours later, in a class I don't belong too. I slept through my lecture, and 2 or 3 more lectures after mine, all uninterrupted. Suprised no one woke me. I excuse myself from this lecture and walk home, I have no clue its 4:30pm until I'm back at my house. Fun day. I'll prolly blackout tonight midsession.

Shove, flop quads, lose to runner runner one card royal. Seriously, though, 21/4 over how many hands? I think there's a difference between a 21/4 and a 12/4 here, as the 21/4 probably plays a little less consistently, and really doesn't like folding much. Also, I think the lower the PFR, the longer it takes to converge since there's fewer hands in their range.

renton (10:23:41 PM): hey
renton (10:23:44 PM): do you want to hear a story

somedude (10:24:01 PM): always

renton (10:24:27 PM): this story is about a poker player, we'll call him trenton

somedude (10:24:34 PM): k

renton (10:24:55 PM): trent was a mildly successful professional poker player, but was running rough at mid stakes
renton (10:25:08 PM): so he decided to play only small stakes games for a month

somedude (10:25:17 PM): okay

renton (10:25:36 PM): for the first week of that month, he ran terrible, and his confidence was down in the dumps
renton (10:25:37 PM):
renton (10:25:49 PM): then something amazing happened
renton (10:26:16 PM): the online poker room in which he played implemented a new regulation that completely ruined the quality of the games trenton was playing in

somedude (10:26:36 PM): let's call it 'wokerstars'?

renton (10:26:40 PM): even so, trenton began to run well
renton (10:26:56 PM): and before long had pulled out of his downswing, and was feeling confident in his game again
renton (10:26:57 PM):
renton (10:27:08 PM): however, the games got worse
renton (10:27:41 PM): they got worse to the point, that trent, feeling confident, decided to play higher games, which actually were much softer than the lower stakes games he'd been playing at
renton (10:28:09 PM): then, trenton lost 4k in 2k hands, playing extremely well
renton (10:28:11 PM): the end
renton (10:28:12 PM): fin

somedude (10:28:32 PM): a tragic comedy of shakespearean proportion

much worse! I even seen fish bitching on 2 differnt occasions in the last few days about having to wait for certain players to act. Good luck getting them retract the table limits though they are making more rake and thats all that matters! Personally I believe that there is point where short stacking and mutlitabling are getting a little rediclous and starting to degrade the game.
