the iron man only affects rakeback if you have the freeroll (not so free roll on rakeback) selected as your monthly option. Sign up for the medals instead of the iron man tournament. You can do this through promotions webpages.

even with the "rakeback cost" the freeroll is still the way to go if you get gold/iron and think you will be available to play. i've cashed for at least $120 in all of them that i've played without even paying attention, and the rb cost is like $32 for iron. that extra $88 is worth way more than the extra 100 medals (worth about $20 with the more expensive iron man store stuff).

Yep, the Ironman yesterday had 302 players and a $30k prize pool. Based on that it's roughly a $100 value which you get for $27 if my math or understanding is correct.

I too have done well in these, although with 300 players instead of 200 like it used to be, it has gotten more difficult. I've cashed 4 out of 6 times if I recall, including barely getting into the money yesterday for $120. Not playing in it because it affects rakeback is extremely -ev. If you could enter a $100 buy in tourney for $27, wouldn't you want to as much as possible?

However, if like me you have time constraints selecting medals and saving the entry fee is better. To each there own. =D The math behind playing is compelling however.
