Not to derail this riveting thread but it melts my brain when I hear people claim poker is a sport. Did anyone even consider this before the poker boom? Just because a game gains popularity it doesn't automatically become a sport.

It isn't the athletic component that makes it a sport unless you consider the ability to sit on your ass for 12 hours at a time athletic? It isn't the intellectual aspect because I love challenging crosswords and sodokus but that doesn't make me a jock either. Crazy Eights? Blackjack? Rock, Paper, Scissors?
