Re: Official Limit-->NL Forum No Content Thread!

didn't want to make a new thread because i think it's really basic

however on another forum i'm having this discussion

50nl 6max
villain is 45/12/2 over 70ish hands

Hero raised UTG with AsQs to 1.75$
BU calls
SB calls

Flop is Ah5sJs

SB checks, Hero bets 4$, BU folds, SB calls.

Turn is 4d

Sb checks Hero ?

I think it's an easy bet for value, but some no limit players who's opinion I respect say it's a check.

I can see why you would check it vs a tighter type of player but vs a guy this loose it's an easy bet right?

Just found this forum a few days ago, its refreshing to see so much discussion without the noise. Reminds me how the NL forums used to be.

I'll def be posting wayyyy more in here

Uggh... I'm missing poker. I'm at my in-laws and so have a bit of a duty to be about 1000% more social than I am at home. This has cut into my poker and posting time (yeah, I brought a laptop since I work from the road, too).

Got to play for a little bit last night and lost a half a buy-in... which I'm happy with because I dropped a buy-in rather quickly.

Re: Official Limit-->NL Forum No Content Thread!

I may actually have to move up soon. Then again, there's probably a downswing (= 5BB/100) just around the corner.

12BB/100 makes poker a lot of fun.

Go ahead and move up if you think you're ready, but don't let this go to your head. For all you know you could totally suck at no-limit and still get a graph like this.

nichtsnutz 08-13-2007 04:11 PM

Re: Official Limit-->NL Forum No Content Thread!

I'm actually pretty sure I won't be moving up for quite some time. Right now I don't have the time to really get better but I'm obviously beating $10NL even if it's only for very few BBs/100. I just enjoy it while I run hot...

Does this forum mark itself as completely "read" for everyone else too? Every other forum, when I click on 'Index' to go back to the list of threads I can still see which ones I haven't read. But for this forum, it marks them all as read (not bold) when I read any one of them.

tyler_cracker 08-15-2007 11:59 AM

nl owns me even while i sleep

yesterday we went to Tampa Hard Rock for some hot 1/2 nl action.

second hand at the table, i am dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] utg and raise to 10. 2 callers.

flop ($30) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

i bet $15, next guy raises to $30 (he has me covered), other guy folds. i tank for a bit, then shove. other guy insta-calls and flips up A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

one guy at the table says, "you had to think about that?" i do not tell him that i was considering PSRs and how to get all the money in.

anyway, the other guy predictably hits a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the turn *and* the river, and i am felted on my second hand.

i also lose with AKs to AQ all-in preflop when fishy villain flops a Q *and* the nut flush draw.

anyway, whatever, standard beats.

however, last night, i had a dream that i was still playing 1/2 nl at tampa hard rock, and i got it all in with AK on an A77x board (after making a brilliant smooth call on the flop to get an overcall). we get all in on the turn and the other guy turns over A7 and stacks me. i punch stuff all the way back to the parking lot.

and that is how nl owns me, even while i sleep.

I drove past Tampa yesterday... in Ft. Myers today. I'll be here for almost a week and I'm considering asking to be excused for a night of poker. I'm not to far from a Seminole casino I think, and a dog track.

Only problem is we're a bit cash-poor at the moment, and since it ain't exactly easy to get at my roll these days.... I may have to wait for another Florida trip.

I am still not great and have a lot of learning to do, but all of these low limits are so bad that I am going to move from .01/.02 to .02/.05 because I have the roll for it now. I started to feel like I was getting a better hold of the game around hand 500.

Last night I sat at a table where a dude pushed literally every hand with a full $5 stack. So all I did was wait until I had some decent cards that beat his random and I ran well so I won like 6 hands against him and made over $20 just from him. I loved that dude. I wish all my graphs looked like this.

Hi Limit-->NLers,

Can someone who knows what's going on here help me out?

So I'm playing SS NL at HP. I raise a big PP PF, then some shortstacker pushes all-in for like 2 bucks more than my bet. He gets 2 or 3 callers and I decide to push all in when it gets back to me. Problem is, when it comes back I don't have the option to push, or to do anything other than call or fold. So, what happened here? His raise wasn't big enough to reopen the betting, right? Does this law change from casino to casino?

Generally the raise has to be the minimum raise or else it's a call. So let's say you raise a $2 big blind to, say, $25, then shorty shoves. If his raise is to anything less than $48, you can't re-shove.
