Danceable, yes, but when it comes to this style of music, I'm looking for things with slower tempos. Right around the tempo of Glory Box is perfect, but depending on the feel, maybe a little faster will do, too. You have anything that fits this description?

This thread has some great stuff but I was hoping for something a little different. I don't really think there is a specific genre for what I am thinking of. I'm probably just picking ballads from different artists and thinking there is a "catch-all" sound somewhere. Something more "lazy" and haunting without the backbeat I am hearing in alot of these examples. The Azure Ray "Drinks We Had Last Night" (from female singer/songwriter thread) was a great example of what I am getting at.

Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" and "Into Dust" come to mind Also "Wicked Game" which I know is played out but the sound is representative.

I would suggest DJ Tiesto as well, but I just counted some of his stuff, and it is with the speed of Oakenfold. I am not huge into Dance. But you may want to check out Madonna's Confession on a Dance Floor. You can even pick it up in Vinyl, and it is a very solid work.

Laika - lush, dreamy female vocals on top of complex, jazzy trip hoppybeats and blips. Band is still around - according to their website - next album is half in the bag.
Highly recommended.

Band is Guy Fixsen (former engineer for My Bloody Valentine) and vocalist Margaret Fiedler (former Moonshake member)

Try Sia - Breathe Me (Mylo Remix)

Sia is the lead singer from Zero 7, but by herself. This is remixed by Mylo, who is [censored] awesome. Great song.

Thievery Corporation is the best at this sort of thing, IMO. All arists on the ESL label are really damned good. Maybe not trip-hop as much as acid-jazz/lounge music, but it's a sub-set of trip-hop to many.

Thievery Corporation - Richest Man in Babylon and Lebanse Blonde are my two favorites from them.

Thunderball and Federico Aubele are other standouts

Here's a Solar Stone remix of that same song: Southern Sun (Chillout Mix). Keep in mind you're missing alot of subtle sounds from the youtube compression. On a quality system this song is incredible.

Hey, cool thread, I like a lot of this stuff.

No mention of the old Sneaker Pimp's yet? Maybe only trip-hop influenced and a bit lighter but I come back to the Becoming X album quite often, lots of good stuff in there.
