reno,

#1: I think it's funny that you're a coach but don't know basic offsides rules.

#2: I think it's pathetic that you used a play that you thought was against the rules.

#3: Sounds like you are a pretty sucky coach. Are the main two better?

Yeti,

"i cant remember the offside rule ever being called in high school haha"

It's most definitely called in any even semi-serious high school club game, and usually quite a bit younger than that.

When I was in seventh grade we spent a decent amount of time working on traps.

JasonK,

"From my extensive experience with 5-7 year olds who lose a lot, most of the kids don't really care that much."

That's the problem with America today.

You guys realize there is NO offsides on a throw in, right? There is no moral or ethical issue here.........

[/ QUOTE ]

Also, where the hell do you have the kid throw the ball if not towards the opponent's goal?

I prob wouldn't do it unless your team is being demoralized by losses

[/ QUOTE ]
Demoralized? They are 5. They don't have morals yet.

[/ QUOTE ]

they have morale, dumbass

[/ QUOTE ]

No, I took a college psychology class and we learned that most children haven't fully developed their morals until they are at least 9 years old.

I think its pathetic that you didn't read my post.

This "play" was spontaneous and I had no thought at all about rules at the time. It is only in post-game analysis that I wonder if it is ok or not and thus this thread.

Obviously you should do this. Consider getting a handheld camera to tape the opposing coaches signals as well.

[/ QUOTE ]

You kid (I assume), but the other coaches in my 8/9 year old baseball league have all sorts of elaborate signs to setup bunts and "steals" (can't leave the base before the ball crosses the plate in this league). Never mind that none of the kids can bunt with a coach pitching (much less another kid who's as likely to bean them in the head as throw a strike) or make the throw from C to 2B.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, I do not kid. Take a hint from Bill Belichick and embrace The Honorable Patriot Way.

About baseball, I remember running squeeze plays as an 8/9 yr old on a 60-foot diamond. It works if you have a wiry little bastard on third and you tell him the Boogeyman's coming!
