Re: FTP account hacked; unknown transfer made; please help

Here is my situation.

Earlier this week, my account was somehow accessed by a hacker. During that time, the only thing they did was make a P2P transfer for around $1200 to some FTP player "W". They also access the corresponding email account and deleted the confirmation email.

However, I discovered this transfer because the email address I use forwards the emails to my primary email account. Immediately I updated by anti-virus software and changed passwords on all my accounts. I then contacted FTP concerning the situation. Their analysis of the situation is very fruswtrating.

They verified that my account was hacked into from their IP records. However, the player "W" is claiming that he and I had agreements to make a transfer on FTP in exchange for a transfer on some non-FTP account. Obviously this makes no sense. FTP knows as fact that this transfer was not made by me but instead by this hacker, yet they are believing this player "W"'s contention that this is still somehow a legitimate transfer. They state:

"Furthermore, there is insufficient evidence to link "W" to the compromising of your account. The logins did not occur from a computer he has ever used. His location is entirely different than that of the foreign login. We have no reason to suspect this player was involved, other than being the recipient of a P2P transfer which he claims was a legitimate transfer, albeit offsite. And because we have no way of
verifying any information regarding offsite transfers, this transfer must stand. We cannot simply make assumptions regarding any involvement "W" has and there is no evidence to suggest he has compromisedyour account in any way."

Does anyone have any ideas to what I should do to nullify this fraud? Please help. Thanks.

Fulltilt aren't stupid. They know that this player has probably hacked your account but they cannot prove it...problem is that you cannot prove it to FTP beyond any reasonable doubt. What FTP should do however is hold the funds in a sort of ESCROW so that neither of you can have the funds until the matter is resolved either between yourselfs or via the authorities.

If I were FTP my email to "W" would be along the lines of, "We are holding the funds whilst this transaction is in dispute with the sending player. Since you know this player from outside of FTP it will not be a problem for us to provide him with your name address etc so that he can contact you to discuss this matter further as he is claiming no knowledge of this transaction. Please confirm that we can provide this player your details so that we can clear this matter up as soon as possible."

Hacker will likely go away at this point. I am not sure how he could possibly respond to that sort of email...

You should ask FTP if they can do that... if the money hasn't already gone?

Thoughts?

John - that is not a bad idea, I think I will try it.

I don't believe EVERY story posted here about these disputes, but seems like there is just too much crap going on right now with FTP - I'm thinking about pulling out until they get serious about these security issues.

imo blumpkin is not the kind of guy to just make this up.

I think if the "W" was a new acct and cashed out shortly after transfer, then he was probably in on it for sure. I would ask that. But I would think they would have looked at this type of stuff.

Anyways, I feel the day of transfers at FTP is nearing an end. I know if I had a site and everyweek soemone said there was an unauthorized transfer being made, I wouldn't deal with it. I'd just not offer anymore..

FTP continued the investigation and figured out that "W" was a scammer. I recovered the funds that were transferred during the fraud. It took some relentless emailing, but I got FTP to do a good job after all.

The guy "W" is actually "Wizzah26". Never interact with this person. To find his other aliases, do a Google search for "Wizzah scam" and you will find some info.

Thanks for the update. It's good to know when a site gets things right.
