Okay, I think I had read somewhere that it's standard. I hate the pink ones at our casino. They were originally just for the rake (to fit more in the rake box) and you would get some stray ones in your stack once in awhile, but now they are used in 4/8 and 6/12. (which we didnt have anymore)

They suck because they blend in with the red $5 chips to easily. They must really suck for the dealers. (if a person slips a white $1 chip on top of a pink $2 chip you could easily confuse it for $6 if you arent careful)

What color are $3 chips? (if there is such a thing)

Never understood why unusual denom cheques are even used at all in poker. $1, $5, $25, $100 (etc.) is all you need. No point in $2 or $10 (much less $3) denominations. They confuse players and a lot of dealers, and there usually isn't that much benefit (do you have a problem throwing out two $1 cheques to post a blind?).

In BJ you have the $2.50 (pink out in AC), but that's necessary for to pay a $5 blackjack. Other than that WTF?

Yellow or orange = $1k FTW. $2 is goofy, I don't think there really is a standard color for it, since it's not a standard denomination in the first place.

Let me qualify the above a little though: the Casino Control Commission in Atlantic City is a little more stringent and regulating about these details than some other places are.

Yeah... there are multiple "standards" for chip colors. And they conflict nicely. California colors != Vegas colors != AC colors. So "yellow chip" to me means $1K. To AC people it's $20. To Foxwoods it's $2. And like $5 in California?

You need $2 for $6-$12 and $8-$16. You need $3 for $9-$18 and $12=$24. You need $10 for $30-$60 and $40-$80. Limit hold'em should be played with a single colored chip on the table (the games are often referred to by the colot of chip they are played with). I know there are some places putting $3 chips on NL tables, I would not do that as it seems like it would create confusion as the bet sizes vary.

This is certainly not true in AC. Every limit game below the pink chip game (7.5-15) is played with a combination of red and white. Even in 2-4 players seem to have as much red in their stacks as white.

Of course, $2 and $3 chips are nonexistant in AC. AFAIK, they are not permitted by Casino Control.
