My oldest boy (7) watched 1-3 recently, when I then gave him 4-6 to watch he got bored with them, as they are slower paced, and have less of the type of humour that appears to Child (he actually likes Jar Jar)

Maybe I'll suggest them to him again when he is a little older. I was a little concerned about letting him watch episode 3 as it was, the final fight scene is a little gruesome for a 7 year old!

This is precisely why my 4 year old son hasn't even seen 1-3 yet.

You also lose out on the subtle references and ironies in 1-3 by not knowing this.

Old school and not even close

Old school by miles.

Think of it this way: people tend to like the version of things they encounter first. If you let your child see 1-3 first, they stand a good chance developing a preference for those over 4-6. Living your life with such a preference would be bad.

If you love your daughter why would you want to subject her to episodes 1 and 2? Show here 4-6 then 3 and she can see 1 and 2 when she’s an adult and better able to cope with the disappointment.
