Cliff Floyd out for remainder of playoffs (achilles).

If we get to the WS this will really suck. I wanted Floyd to DH and Chavez to play the OF.

So did I. And I'm still hoping that Floyd can heal his achilles to the point where he can still do that. Having him and Chavez in the lineup would have been $.

Chavez is no slouch though. He doesn't have Cliff's home run power but he was better than Cliff in: AVG, OBP, SLG & OPS this year. He is also a better fielder and base runner.

BTW, if the Mets do lose this series I don't want to hear any crap from the Yankee fans. Rememebr the Mets are the better team on paper going into this series. So that is my defense, if we lose it's just variance. lol.

No, if we lose it's cause our 3B sucks in the playoffs.

Mets fans have to acknowledge that the Cards have the best starting pitcher and the best hitter in the series. That scares this Mets fan.

They do, but if they win I'll just be like the Yankee fans and say we had the better team coming in and would win in the long term, so no worries. Since we have the better team, I don't even understand why we have to play the games.

It scares me too. But if Maine, Trachsel & Perez can give us 5 innings each the Mets will be in good shape.

if the Red Birds pitch Carp in game two, they might win two games, otherwise it's Mets in 5.

[/ QUOTE ]

since no one else has asked, i'll volunteer. why does it matter whether carpenter pitches games 2 and 6 or 3 and 7 when you're predicting mets in 5? either way he only starts one of the first five games.

Thank you reality and sensibility from a Cards fan. Finally.

ummm....I did say Mets in 6 earlier

it's not that unlikely for the Cards to win though as the Mets are -175 or whatever to win the series....that's less than 2 to 1. It would be an upset, but not a major one.
