Olivert, how do you figure that the WSOP entrants will be 9000+ next year? The China poker boom has yet to happen and I don't see 8000+ Europeans all of a sudden signing up for the WSOP ME all in one go. Do you know the percentage of WSOP players are American? And how many of them qualified through sites like pokerstars? I'm sure that it's over 70% of the WSOP players are American AND got their seat online.

I just want to see your reasoning behind your optimistic number for next year's WSOP.

That is basically why I wanted to know the biggest tourney abroad. So he is figuring we are going to jump from 480 to 9k.

I will be completely shocked if the WSOP is held overseas and we had anywhere near 9k.

and in two weeks I believe we will be saying the WSOP will be a small fraction of its former self, just how small of a fraction, we won't know until next years WSOP. Just very thankfully glad I took the time to go and play this year and be part of such a huge event.

I hear that there *may* be some sort of poker boom that may take place in China. Anyone care to comment on this? Also, Andy Beal is not a poker player.

China poker boom?

It's true that for calendar year 2005 mah cow topped vegas in gambooling revenue BUT i read somewhere that 60% of the mah cow take is from back a rat.

The few Chinese I've spoken with who visit Vegas claim that poker is too "slow".

Some think poker won't ever "take" in china like it has with the rest of the world.

I pray they're wrong.

4000 is my guess. There will still be some online qualifiers, but not as many. Keep in mind that not only will online qualifying go down, but also there'll be a drop in people building their bankrolls online and buying in. That being said, I think the poker boom is still pretty huge.
