Loosing Colvin really sucks. Dude is a beast and I imagine that means Seau will be on the field more often . At least Seymour is finally healthy but still, tough loss. On the other hand the pats have been lucky with injuries on the whole so far.

I think there are a few scenarios which could play out:

1) we play more 4-3, with Jarvin Green getting back into the starting line-up. MLB would be a Bruschi/Seau rotation, AD and Vrabel at the OLB spots

2) we stick with a principle 3-4, with AD moving back outside (taking Colvins spot) and Bruschi and Seau both playing full time

3) a combo of the above depending on gameplan.

I imagine 3) is what we'll see

A d-line of Seymour/Wilfork/Warren/Green is absolutely frightening . I really hope we do see more of this, though, and I could be wrong here, that might mean more Vrabel/Bruschi in coverage, which isn't a pretty sight. Either way, I think you are right and they will find a decent balance depending on the opponent.

...

there is also the possibility of younger LB's playing more. Woods, Alexander. no idea if these guys are ready or not, it can often take a while to "get" our system

from Mike Reiss today:

this season, the Patriots have allowed 18 punt return yards. not per game. that is the total for the year

[/ QUOTE ]

well if you never punt you won't allow punt return yards

[/ QUOTE ]

ob yeah, it's just funny to read

(Pats have punted 24 times, fwiw)

the NFL record is 22 yards, by the Packers in 1967

The pats will go as far this year as the nfl refs let them.

We all know Polian has them in his pocket.

I ask you all to watch Colts games and tell me the next time you see the Colts get screwed on a call... i'm not talking about a no-call... im talking about a call against the Colts that is complete B.s.

PM me when you see one.
Seriously.

Re: Official NE Patriots gogogogo to the SB thread

The last game I saw a couple of plays where Moss wasn't the primary receiver where he kind of jogged the pattern. It bothered me marginally because I know he has a little bit of a reputation in that regard and so there was a little concern that he might backslide to this bad habit if he's not getting the ball enough.

So then later in the week Ron Jawroski brings it up as I'm sure you all heard. Then Brady followed by Belichick go on to defend Moss. But Belichick throws in his standard "we including the coaches are all capable of doing some things better".

Well, imo this whole thing couldn't have come down better. An outsider criticizes Moss and he gets defended by his QB and coach but Moss gets the message loud and clear.
