OMG, seriously, wake up.

Edit: STEP UP to start. not keep dropping back this isn't Madden. Awesome 20 yard net punt.

This game is probably over without serious adjustments by BC's O-Line.

How many almost/shoulda been turnovers is BC gonna have?

Blah, I liked VT in this game for like two weeks, then the day of the game I change my mind and bet on BC.

Hard to believe this is #2 v #8 right now, even with the rain.

Center's head went down, no idea what he was doing. Take a step and keep your head up, had nothing to do with speed.

Re: NCAAF Week 9

pretty weak blocking in the back call might hold V Tech in its place....it was definitely a block in the back outside the tackles, but it's sometimes over looked in that context

Re: NCAAF Week 9

Well Nebraska is screwed, they are getting the Holtz curse, the peptalk.

MyTurn2Raise 10-25-2007 09:12 PM

Re: NCAAF Week 9

I believe it was Mike Mayock on NFL Network's College Football Now that questioned if BC would remain confident in the new zone blocking scheme they brought in this year against V Tech's defensive package

good concern it turns out

though is should only be 3-0, V Tech's D has whupped up on BC's offense
-the secondary is locking down all pass routes
-the d-line isn't given Ryan too much time
-the rushing is hit or miss

Riverman 10-25-2007 09:15 PM

Re: NCAAF Week 9

I don't understand the zone blocking fad at all...its rare IMO for a team to do significantly better with it, and the downside is huge.

MyTurn2Raise 10-25-2007 09:17 PM

Re: NCAAF Week 9

OMG....how did Mark May say Les Miles is "On the Mark" for the way he managed last week's endgame? Apparently, Mr. May needs to read my blog on Miles' endgame blunder. Quit being results oriented in evaluating coaches Mr. May. Les Miles was a moron in that game and that is why he gets the rep he does.

I'm a HUGE believer in it. Blocking an area >>>> scheme. I've played in both offenses and zone is soooo much better. BC has no cohesion, that is where it fault is. It's a fad because it is a dominating way to block. There is one major flaw and that is safety blitzes, but how many teams are willing to bring that safety up every play?

Mark May < Gary Danielson < Chris Spielman < Hitler

Austiger 10-25-2007 09:21 PM

Re: NCAAF Week 9

I think May was questioning Miles's sanity after the call last week. His "on the mark" was for Miles's "good fortune" and for entertainment purposes only I believe. I'm pretty sure he laid into Miles after the call last week.

I agree that how he handled this was incorrect, but does Flynn taking forever to get off the play and the fact that the ball was caught was :03-:04 instead of the :01 the scorekeeper allowed to tick off to alleviate this somewhat? That said, with his kicker, I would not have done that.

I mean, I like the aggression and it's fun as hell to watch, but yeesh.

yeah...I fully expected him to get a FG off no matter what

even with that, it was terribly mismanaged

terrible route-running to end up short on 3rd down

This infuriates me all the time. It's called so so so much and players still do it allllllllll the time. You know it's the biggest thing refs are looking for on returns.

Austiger 10-25-2007 09:44 PM

Re: NCAAF Week 9

I bet the net of all punt returns in the history of CFB would be higher if the returner would just take off straight upfield every time. That was just idiotic trying to dance back to the goal line.

I agree with your assessment MT2R. Being immersed in the game like I was (and being a total LSU homer) I missed how that last possession was totally mismanaged. Kudos on laying it out like that and making a convincing argument.

Agree. Part of the problem was the announcers going on about the 1 second thing, even after watching replays which had the time showing. That whole thing just got so annoying that I (and others) became defensive and kind of ignored everything else.

Is this game indicative of BC's play this year? I've watched a total of 6 minutes of this game and have concluded that BC is terrible. Am I wrong? (in all seriousness, are they really this poor?)
