I mean the ones that evaluate whether or not a trade works under the cap. That way, all the people who are forced to read about our fantasy basketball league can at least amuse themselves by coming up with ways to improve the teams.

Advice #1- Don't draft players that are mediocre and are out for the season.

And my comment was that if I had a salary cap question I would go to Clark or Alex.

Apparently, it's called "IrishHand"

I was thinking of doing a little diddy in excel to do this. If I get around to it I'll email you it. Seems fairly simple.

edit: or perl, cuz I'm not sure how to write boolean logic in excel, or if you even can, but I would think such a powerful program could.

I don't think you need magic to figure out "if team taking more salary is over the cap, salaries in deal must be within 10% or 0.5M of each other."

kidcolin 10-24-2007 07:13 PM

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

it ain't magic. It's software. And it's kinda cool and might just be fun to make.

I think it's called excel and the formula is something like (Salary A + Salary B)*.9 = target salary

excel = software LDO. I'm just trying to be nerdy and think of ways to minimize user effort.

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

You don't seem to get it. Obv it's easy to do the calc once an offer is on the table. It takes two seconds.

The tool would be cool as a way to quickly analyze a slew of trades. i.e., I see team X has player Y on the block. I can then check a few options really quickly to see if they even work.

But I doubt I'll put that much effort into it, so I'll stop gaying up the thread about it.

Wow. Boozer AND a 2nd rounder to Mil

From kutztown for Nachbar, Warrick and Pavlovic

Wow that has to be the worst trade ever. Is there any veto system in this league? Boozer was his only great player esp when you figure in contracts, I woulda given you more for him.

TJ Ford+Warrick+Scrubs for a top 10-15 player, WTF????

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

I ran some numbers and the good news for the Kutztown faithful is that from a production standpoint, the trade didn't make them any worse (It did make Milwaukee a LOT better).

It'll take some patience and targeted trading, but I think there's hope in Kutztown yet.

You do realize his best player on his team is Okafor and his 2nd best player is either Jason Terry or Rip Hamilton....

His only young players with talent are Al Horford and Warrick and that is it.

Warrick is a scrub. He played well at the start of last year when Gasol was injured, but with Gasol back he returned to being largely valueless. The 2nd half of last season, he was ranked #161 on the Monster even though he got 26mpg - ranking him below Maurice Evans, Damien Wilkins, John Salmons, Linas Kleiza and Kwame Brown. With Navarro on board, Miller will slide back to his natural SF slot, Darko pushes Gasol to his natura PF slot...and Warrick drops below 20mpg, making him unplayable.

Warrick's athletic, but his offensive limitations give him a pretty low ceiling imo.

Boozer for TJ Ford, a 2nd rounder and scrubs is a more accurate reflection.

#359
He averaged 19.5 pts. and 7 boards last year.

sethypooh21 10-25-2007 02:45 PM

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

With Z-Bo on board, no way he matches that this year, and he gives you nothing else, aside from maybe FG% but he kills you in FT% and Tos.

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

no blocks, no assists, 8 free throws per game at 61%, and 3.5 TOs (wowzer).... and 7 boards is pretty pathetic for a center of his size. I mean.. it's really pathetic.

Because there aren't that many centers/forwards who rebound/block shots that people will trade?

Just playing. It's fantasy basketball. Totally standard stuff.

06-07: 16:18 mpg, 2.9 fpg (!!!)

If a dude can't stop fouling long enough to stay on the court for even 25 mpg, his value is far from sick.

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

Don't take Cs remotely early. One elite one is fine. Two is death.

Granger was a really bad pick. Iggy was also mediocre. Don't like Rondo, but you raped yourself by not taking PGs so you had to get what you could.

Fantasy basketball = elite PG play. Over and over. You don't have one elite PG. Okafor for a PG. Rondo + Granger for the best PG you can get.

The back end of your draft was horrendous, but hopefully a lot of that can be fixed through the WW. Haslem and from round 13 on down are all borderline drop-worthy.

made my first fantasy team ever in the 2p2 draft tonight. is my team terrible?

iverson
yao
ray allen
z randolph
david lee
jermaine
childress
zaza
anthony parker
cuttino mobley
nick collison
luther head
ruben patterson
garbajosa

i got yao early, so decided to punt off TOs. Then I realized I didn't have many assists either and decided to ignore that. How is my team for a standard scoring, 12 team league?

In a 16 team 2+ center league, Przybilla's blocks and boards can have tremendous value, especially to certain teams.

I wouldn't be surprised if he puts up 8 boards and 3 blocks a game this year.

I missed a public draft on Yahoo for a standard h2h league

Shawn Marion
Chris Bosh
Andre Iguodala
Emeka Okafor
Leandro Barbosa
Monta Ellis
Danny Granger
Anthony Parker
Tayshaun Prince
Kendrick Perkins
Luis Scola
Jason Maxiell
Robert Swift

Mike Conley and Lamarcus Aldridge have been dropped already, should I try to pick up both and who should I drop?

MEbenhoe 10-26-2007 08:24 AM

Re: Post Draft Fantasy Basketball Thread

Pick up Aldridge ASAP. Conley doesnt have as much value in a one year league as he does in a keeper league, so I'd be less likely to pick him up.
