Re: Suspected cheating on AP

Schneids/bk,

Just because AP is run by a bunch of morons and probably needs your research to do anything doesn't mean you SHOULD do it.

Contact them and tell them what the problem is, put them on the right track, and if they don't solve the problem, well, that's AP for you.

Re: Suspected cheating on AP

On my flight I had time to look over 2 sessions I played with graycat. I haven't had the opportunity to look over them in entirety nor have I looked at any others yet. The first is from aug 5 and the second aug 30.

All I saw was completely retarded random play that didn't seem to be of any cheating nature. Since I wasn't able to look at the whole session it doesn't mean anything, but here are a bunch of seemingly normal hands. Also, I've experianced some very very weird stuff so I'm not saying it's not cheating, it just doesn't seem like he has forever and mb it just started later than aug 30.

Re: Suspected cheating on AP

Are there any hints that other stakes than high stakes are involved, too? I play a lot of NL $0.5/$1 and NL $1/$2 at Absolute.

Also, shouldn't this warning be posted into the other forums as soon as possible, too?

If you read the thread a few posters give the, 'If this was anybody else but you, I wouldn't believe it...'

Plus, somebody asks him if he also posted this on 2p2. This guy and his friend are histakes LHE regs and must know some of the guys here.

Am I the only person who gets Brian's original reasoning for wanting this discussion to take place in private?

[/ QUOTE ]

No, fwiw.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think we all understand the reasoning, we just disagree with it.

1- It doesn't really matter if the guy changes his ways, there's tons of good evidence that already exists.

2- I don't think it's "fair" (for lack of better term) that only 2p2 HS AP players who happened to read the thread are aware of this. I think this is information that benefits from greater distribution not being hidden away.

Gild,

I think that at minimum that thread in BBV should be unstickied, and a new sticky by a non adanthar mod should be made with a link to the old thread. (unlocked sticky!!! omg!)

It's not like we were just going to hide it away forever and be hush hush. I already outlined in a previous response why it is better to short term hide it. If the general public doesn't know the specifics for a few days, it's only a few days, they aren't going to get "bloodbathed" between now and whenever our case is finished being built.

Re: Suspected cheating on AP

Schneids,

While it may or may not be better to hide it in the short term, we have no right, as moderators, to hide information from the users because we feel it would be better dispersed or handled in a different manner.

Removing information provided to the public by another poster because "I think it's best if the general public doesn't know this yet," even with totally reasonable reasons why it would be best if the general public didn't know, shouldn't be done by moderators (hell, it probably shouldn't be done by admins).

Hi guys,

Unfortunately, I don't think my shares are likely to go *up* as a result of publicizing this

This isn't just a random multiaccounting scandal that might cost someone $50 of EV in an MTT. This is poker's nuclear bomb, and I'm 100% sure that on Wednesday, while that thread was starting, it cost CrazyMarco about 15K and everyone below him more money. Yesterday, AP ran a 150K Guaranteed $530 that many of my friends play in. Today, it has a $200 60K, which many of my friends are also playing in...you get the idea. It isn't something that you can afford to take two weeks to prepare for, especially when there is already this much evidence and any non-2+2'ers still playing HSNL are being taken for no doubt ridiculous amounts of money *right now*.

that said, I'm fine with unstickying the BBV thread (and I'll be doing that right now) since the message seems to be thoroughly out.

Has this thread been shown to one of the major poker areas of influence (ie. cardplayer)? maybe it'd be nice to get some of this info out.

Given the ridic number of 2p2ers propping at AP, you'd think somebody must have a point of contact there.

It seems like everyone really wants that thread moved back...and especially with that bbv thread it surely doesn't seem like it would hurt having it back there again.

So if matt, mike or commodus could move it that probably would be best.

Need a heads up guys. I'm already seeing jokes (I think) suggesting some luckbox on some site is really doubledrag. I've asked my forum to desist from anything linking other players to the absolute suspects, even as jokes.

Is this retarded?

okay it's unsubstantiated rumor, but, gah.

If you read the thread a few posters give the, 'If this was anybody else but you, I wouldn't believe it...'

Plus, somebody asks him if he also posted this on 2p2. This guy and his friend are histakes LHE regs and must know some of the guys here.

[/ QUOTE ]

i don't think this really matters. it's still unsubstantiated crap imo

[/ QUOTE ]

With the date of that thread being over a year ago you might be right, but it wouldn't hurt for the AP players to talk to him and find out for themselves. According to some ICFISHIES is a known reg on stars so it's not as if that thread could be an outright joke by a no-name railtard.

Cardplayer won't publish this. Too much of their ad revenue comes from these sites.

Is there a reason this hasn't happened? I mean, if we're allowing wide spread discussion, then keeping it here seems worse then useless.

Flip a coin: NVG or the Zoo. I guess it depends on how much free time you're going to have the next couple days.

Did it come from NVG? I thought it must have come from a strat forum to be moved here.

It was in HSLHE. I just said NVG because its more on topic and has more traffic.

I've moved it back to HSLHE so their mods can decide what they wish to do with it.

HSLHE is where it goes.

NVG will make that thread a travesty and that is probably the community least likely to be affected by this. It's really only HS AP players who are at risk. The short stack kids in NVG will just think this validates their OMG ITZ RIGGED BECAUSE AA LOST claptrap.

I disagree with this. Not with your second point so much, but with your first one. We really don't know that the Ddrags is the only one to have been able to do this. We just know that he's the dumbest one to be able to do this, because he did it at the highest stakes, and in the most obvious way possible. I wouldn't be too sure that this isn't going on at all levels in Absolute. I'm not saying it is, I'm just saying that at this point, spreading the word isn't a bad thing. Besides, NVG threads with 3000 posts can be fun.

I've been away on my annual trip to the land of tents and bluegrass music.

Virtually all of this is debatable. There is no clear right or wrong for many of the mod actions taken and talked about... except for the sticky in BBV that was discussed. That wasn't appropriate.

FWIW I've heard from a reasonably connected (not kyleb, good guess though!) guy who has contacts close to AP that rougly confirms the super user able to view hole cards theory. I've encouraged him to get in contact with Schneids once he feels he can/wants to share more.

I already have some info about this, likely unrelated to whoever your source is, though I can't really talk about it yet.

However, fwiw, I pretty much feel like throwing in the towel on all of this trying because there's like .01% chance anything will ever come of our efforts. I know AP isn't a site I want to play on, that's all I need to know.
