doctor, 849k, 8:03
No clue how anyone can do it in 3 minutes! |
Re: Net
There are a lot of things you figure out once and then can immediately recongize in the future when you see them. For example if there is an I piece between two devices then it has to be OIO rather than O-O. Once you learn that, you can extend it to spots where there are two I pieces between two devides which must be OIIO instead of anything else. Basically any clump of devices is likely to have some piece that you can lock because any other orientation will close the circuit without powering it.

3:03! [/ QUOTE ] You guys are ridiculous. I've nearly broken 6 minutes, but don't see how I can get much faster than that. I think, that I probably spend too much time going back and forth between locking and twisting (but if I don't, I end up getting confused and making mistakes). Just curious. On your fastest times, don't you guess at all? |
Re: Net
I lock every single piece after I twist it
fastest times involve minimal guessing |
Re: Net

I lock every single piece after I twist it fastest times involve minimal guessing [/ QUOTE ] to break 3 minutes, you have to just start twisting and don't stop until you're done. locking ought to be a negligible amount of time if you use the keyboard. i definitely lose more time to misclicks than to locking. |

[/ QUOTE ] you can only twist one piece at a time, but you can lock a piece while it's still twisting, so it takes no extra time at all. I have the piece locked and the mouse on the next piece before I can actually click it. |
Re: Net
There should be a feature where if you twist a piece and put it right back where it started (without touching another piece), it doesn't count as a turn. I hate twisting something when I think I'm locking it. Fortunately the algorithm mis-estimates the required number of turns, so you can usually get one mistake for free

misclicked a couple times right at the end or would have broken under 3m =( |

Re: Net
Just for posting this in the first place.. I'm not going to beat Soah's times.
|
Re: Net
Dammit!
Doctor, 993k, 4:27. My previous best time was 5:27. This one was just a lucky pattern, I assume.. I barely needed to pause to think, and the endgame was unambiguous. |
Re: Net
If you think you were barely pausing at 4:27 then you can't even comprehend 2:27...
|

If you think you were barely pausing at 4:27 then you can't even comprehend 2:27... [/ QUOTE ] No, I can't I've done 3:37 on Master, though. Usually on Doctor there's a point (or several) where I have to stop and look for something else to do. This one I didn't pause, but that doesn't mean I was in a non-stop clicking frenzy |
Re: Net
some quick math:
2:27 = 147 seconds. that means average time per click is under 1.5 seconds. which means, yeah, no pausing. |
Re: Net
by the way, soah, not sure if you read the scoring post but your score stops going up once your time gets faster than the number of turns. which is a little ridulous i think but hey it may be possible.
|
Re: Net
a lot of moves require two twists so it's probably closer to a twist per second
|
Re: Net
I finally got around to playing this game.
started easy, but wtf on the "minimum required"? http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/503...minimumdg3.jpg oh and you'll have to trust me that I had solved it I guess. I cropped out that part of the picture. |
Re: Net
Yes, the minimum required isn't always quite right.. kid.

Re: Net
Fun with the minimum turns.... and a decent score too!

Re: Net
Let's see if I can kick the habit now.
Doctor: 93/93, 3:50, 1.004 million Master: 102/102, 3:18, 1.080 million Also had a 3:16 on master but only had like 91 turns, so the score was lower. The really ridiculous scores only come on the easy configurations, of course. |
Re: Net
I'm going to be stuck playing this a long time. Luckily I'm aware I'll never get the insane times you guys are, so I'm not beating my brains over that.
I did get a config with an empty square once, though - has anyone else seen that before? Wish I'd saved a screenshot. |
Re: Net
I had three adjacent empty squares yesterday.

Re: Net
2:35 on master.. (1.153 million)
Still only 3:50 on doctor though (did have a 3:52 time as well) I've definitely reached a point where I can click quickly And I can usually get under 5 minutes for doctor if I try hard.. But I'm not sure i have enough time to invest to get that 2:35 score on doctor level... |
Re: Net
I'm not taking screenshots anymore unless I break 2 minutes, I don't care if ppl don't believe me.
2:18 101/98. I was doing awesome then screwed up a couple moves at the end. |
Re: Net
I'm trying to figure out how to go back and post on the first page of this thread when my first sub 4-minute time would actually be good.
|
Re: Net
3:38 108/108. I don't think I can do it much faster; I'm just not that twitchy.
It also bugs me to no end that there are often multiple solutions to the level (and that's why you can complete it in less than the minimum moves). I end up staring for a while then realizing it doesn't matter, sometimes. |
Re: Net
3:21 87/87
I think that's by far the lowest # of turns I've had on doctor, so not overly surprising I went under my last record. Of course, that might have been the sub-2 minute board for Soah. |
Re: Net
New high score: 107/107 2:26 is worth 1239006 points.
