right; it'll go up and down; fine

if it ever dips below what i think the daily amount is worth, then i'll just quit and take the interest

also, since i'm gonna keep my day job, i'm actually gonna make a LOT more than that, since i'll be compounding the interest by not making any withdrawals

[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, I just wanted to clarify why I used a lower rate in response to the guy that asked what the safest way to execute that plan would be.

[/ QUOTE ]

your way wasn't safe at all!

u wanted him to be locked into a 5-year bond so he was stuck hauling oats for 5 years

my way leaves his money liquid so he can quit on any given day

[/ QUOTE ]
The post I responded to asked about doing it for 5 years.

Your posts in other forums often have useful content. That's what puzzles me most about your horrible trolling here.

Thus, I propose the following:
I'll be in the vicinity of New City this weekend. If you want, we'll go watch the Oat Runners. If they exist, I'll be gracious and start you off on your new career with a nice pair of shoes that are comfortable wearing without socks. If they don't exist, you agree to exile. Sound good?

I'm actually in Vegas for the WSOP still this weekend....sorry.

As for posting seriously in other forums and joking around here thats because I assumed that this was the forum to joke around it. If you look at the 3 main threads I've started that people are complaining about(this and the 2 onslaught threads) there is a lot of funny parts in all of them- some by me and some by those who responded. I don't see what the problem is with posting light-hearted threads and having a good laugh in this forum- thats what I thought this forum was for!

um, you realize you could just accept the job, invest the 1 million in a 5% interest bank account, make $50,000 a year off the interest + salary and quit whenever you feel like it?

sounds like a sweet deal to me.

I would take the $1M and immediately go offer $300k to a corrupt doctor to vouch for me being too sick to do this without dying and then retire with the easiest $700k I ever made (the cost of living in Yuma is pretty low).

I think your OOT posts, and the follow up comments, are hilarious. Sure, they don't make much sense/are weird, and you don't make them any clearer, but the hilarity that tends to ensue is awesome. I'm not really getting the hate.

Re: \"Make a million $$ in a few minutes of work each day\"...good idea?

I actually think that this is a fairly good post.

Unfortunately the NIT responses that you got in the thread:
"OMGF this can't be real" were not funny at all and just added filler to the thread.

Don't get me wrong, this is no Allegory of the Cave, but it isn't too fare off of an analogy for every day life. Most people have a job that sucks but has its benefits (short work/day vs Cal Ripkin continuity) and most people are sold on "$1 million dollar salary" when they are really making only 50k a year.

I do not think that the Oat carying job is worth 50k a year but then again I am short and have little arms which would increase the frequency that I burn myself. I am also a night person and 4:30 am is pretty brutal. I would need a bonus upwards of 10 mil before I even considered taking the job.

There is no way that I would have the job for 21 years but the posters in this thread who mentioned that you could live off the interest on your investment had it right. Pretty much, I would take the job as the price for a 1 million dollar loan.

I am a skilled investor and I am confident that I could pick some good stocks to make a quick buck on which would allow me to quit the job early. An added benefit is that I would be able to do market research after my oats carrying was over and would still be awake when the markets opened. If I made bad investments at the start then ... well ... there is always oats running

What kind of new cutting edge company makes profit from paying ppl to move enormous pots of hot oats?

If this is a 'serious' question: this is not a good deal at all. Perhaps $47k/ann is a good salary for you now? Perhaps. Do you think it is such a good salary in 5 years? 10? 21? Hardly.

I don't see what this is an analogy for if you are trying to be clever.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you look at it, $47k a year is not your annual salary over 21 years... Roughly 93k is, if you divide the mil up among the 21 years...

Better question is, How is this guy not getting starred for this and the stupid onslaught posts... ?

If the deal was $1,350,000 up front I would start packing right now, move to Yuma, and do it! Any negotiating room there?

Why $1,350,000, you may ask? I believe the OOTers do not want a certain topic discussed here so I will just say that being rolloed at 25x for the $50,000 plus $4,000's would tip the scales for my willingness to run boiling oats on a daily basis.

For a measly under-rolloed $1,000,000? No way!

Me too. I LOL'd a couple of times in the onslaught threads and this thread. What's awesome about these threads is that all the humor comes from the people who don't see the humor.

Also, while I probably would decline this offer, those of you saying you wouldn't do this for 10 million are nuts. Aside from the not-being-able-to-take-vacations thing, you'd become wealthy for working 15 minutes a day. And you can take a [censored] of vacations in 21 years when you retire.

Edit: Just realized how old this was. HTF did I miss this the first time around?
