Agreed. It's completley moronic.

"We've doubled the stack sizes so you'll get more play"

COOL!

"Oh we've also doubled all the blind levels."

Wait what?

[/ QUOTE ]

They doubled stack sizes for every event, but it was done mainly for the smaller $1500 events, they did get more play because the levels werent doubled like the main event levels.

Jeff Madsen: Prop Bet Loser

Jeff Madsen was the unfortunate loser in a three-way WSOP prop bet between himself, Gavin Smith, and Joe Sebok. Based on a point system that measured their success in the preliminary no-limit hold'em events, Madsen came up short and per the terms of the bet, was forced to play his Main Event Day 1 in a jester suit.

For anyone wondering how each of them did in NL events

Madsen:

Smith:

Sebok:
2 cashes

1500 shootouts 31st for $6700
1500 freezeout 96th for $4800

congrats to all 3 for their performances this year.

1,250 is SPECULATION. A) there is still alternates filing in, B) registration is still open until end of 2nd level I think, and C) there count is a complete guess from the same ppl who brought you some of the most amazingly butchered hands reported in poker tournament reporting history.

The entire room is full, aside from 3 empty tables. There are about 10 cash games running, but the rest of the tables are all for the big dance. You can literally feel the tension starting to ease as players start to find their rhythm.

that's exactly not what i said in any way shape or form.

i said that the 1,250 is a speculative #. i didn't realize it was released to them by the WSOP, but even then it doesn't include alternates.

if i had to guess, i would estimate they get at least 1,500 to 1,600 today, just based on how many alternates usually seem to get in to this event on the first day.

There was an 8532 board. Neverwin had A4s. I assume the aces raised preflop and the others called, but it could have been a limped pot.. Also, I assume the flop was 532, unless both the aces and set were slow playing.

Will Durkee Crippled

After a flop of {J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, Will Durkee bet 1,000 from early position, middle-position player called, a late-position player raised it up 4,000, Durkee pushed all-in for 10,000 more and the late-position player called. Durkee showed {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and was out front with two pair. His opponent turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. The board came {J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Durkee was crippled. His opponent took the pot with a higher two pair and Durkee was down to 700.

Ouchee for a 2p2 bracelet winner.

[ QUOTE ]
Will Durkee Has Been Eliminated

Five players limped in and Will Durkee pushed all-in from the big blind for his last 550. The player under-the-gun raised to 2,000 and the other players folded. Durkee showed {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} against {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. The board came {5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs} and then the river. The {4-Clubs} gave Durkee's opponent a pair and Durkee headed for the door.

Where's Vinny Vinh?
Vinny Vinh was supposed to be playing on Day 1a. His real name is Quoc Vinh and he was assigned to Table 40, Seat 9. He did not show up on time and his stack started to get blinded off. His friends indicated that Vinh was in the hospital an unable to play. They tried to get him a refund. Jack Effel was called in and made the decision to remove Vinh's stack. He will be able to get a refund or play on another day if he decides to.
