Apparently, the agent misrepresented the landlord who has no intention of removing this snow.

Umm. Is this based on the fact that your walk was not cleaned this morning? Why not call the landlord first and ask him when the walk will be shoveled? He could have been caught off guard by the first snowfall of the year -- I always was when I lived in snow country...

If you have been told that it will not be cleaned -- What kind of home do you rent? Is this a multi-unit property? Your legal rights can vary.

This is based on the phone call I had with him this morning.

Here is the other thing: The units are quads, so most of the walkway is used by multiple units, (none of which are occupied, save mine) so when this place is full, how do we determine who shovels?

That answers the question. It is common area. Is the building in New York or Pa. In New York, the landlord is generally responsible for maintaining the common areas such as this walkway. (Probably the case in PA as well, but I can't say for sure.) I would recommend that you write to the landlord and politley request that the walks be shoveled before 7AM (or whatever time) on days when it snowed overnight. If you don't get a proper response, you will need to report him to the proper agency in your municipality. Most building departments/sanitation departments have escolating fees for these kind of things -- he could get a ticket for $100 the first time, $250 the second time, etc... but it varies a lot.

Call city hall...

yeah definitely should have mentioned that this is a common area...he's probably pissed that the other units are empty right now, not your problem.

Thanks for the last two responses. I kinda knew I was in the right because of how pissed off this guy got.

Here is the other thing: We kinda thought this place was a steal for the price because it seems going through ownership issues. and the appliances are all new and really nice.

Just got back from Ski Side Village. Location is great, but it goes downhill from there. Everything in the unit was about 20-25 years old. Heavily stained carpets. There was a double bed downstairs, a double bed upstairs and a pull out couch. There is a Jacuzzi and a Sauna upstairs. No need for the Sauna since the weather was mid eighties all week. They are remodeling. There is a big dumpster, but it is for the construction crew. The garbage people put in the dumpster ends up being thrown into the parking lot. This is the first view you get. Garbage all over the place. Hopefully you get one of the renovated units away from the dumpster. The pool looked nice and the grounds aren't bad to walk around. It looks like they are trying to sell the units off as townhouses. They'll need to do quite a bit of work to do that.

Well they did the work and these places are great.

BTW, they tried to stick us in the fruthest away one for some reason (probobly because it would be the hardest to sell). Now it is biting them in the ass.
