Re: Settling a bet: Hearing vs Money
What if you could still hear ukes only?
Then how much would it cost to give up your hearing for everything but ukes? 20 bucks over here |

Re: Settling a bet: Hearing vs Money
Smell is the only sense I would consider giving up for any amount of money.

Re: Settling a bet: Hearing vs Money
I'll take $20 million for my hearing.
How expensive can Hearing Aids really be? Definitely a +EV investment. |
Re: Settling a bet: Hearing vs Money
Some guy like in the Saw movies should kill anyone who would accept the money.

[/ QUOTE ] lol. you can't use hearing aids if you have 0 hearing. hearing aids only amplify the sounds coming in so that the you can hear them with what little hearing you have. it wouldn't matter how loud the sounds coming in are, if you're completely deaf, you won't hear it. now, perhaps you could get a cochlear implant. but with cochlear implants, sounds aren't natural, clear, or vibrant. you can "train" your brain to understand speech when you use a cochlear implant, but listening to music would be difficult. btw i am a hearing aid wearer - i have 0 hearing in my right ear and about 1/2 of normal hearing in my left ear. i wear hearing aids and do pretty well. disclaimer: i know you can't use hearing aids if you are completely deaf, but as i don't use cochlear implants, i can't guarantee that i'm right about those. i think i am, though. to answer the question: since i expect to make enough money to live comfortably off of, i wouldn't want to lose what remaining hearing i have for $20 million. i don't know how much it would have to be. $100 million? A billion? i dunno. |
