In lieu of making the hilarious sarcastic comment I was originally going to make here, I'm going to actually be serious and point out that the movie was meant to be a satire of the book and the militarism Robert Heinlein espoused in it.

starship troopers swept the academy awards if i remember correctly... most respected film critics cite it as the greatest movie ever made. king kong is just a monkey trying to [censored] some girl and eat jack black, or some [censored].

This poll is terrible. Neither movie absolutely sucked, and Starship Troopers was actually pretty good.

I didn't know it was satire, but it is kind of obvious that it was obviously on purpose over the top.

[Ace is having difficulty with throwing knives]
Ace Levy: Sir, I don't understand. What goods' a knife in a nuke fight? All you have to do is press a button, sir.
Career Sergeant Zim: Put your hand on that wall trooper. PUT YOUR HAND ON THAT WALL!
[Zim throws a knife and hits Ace's hand pinning it to the wall]
Career Sergeant Zim: The enemy can not press a button... if you have disabled his hand. Medic!
