Edit: Also, what's with veteran players always coming into the NC and saying things like this. Are you trying to tilt me outside of the table? 98s for 3 pre-flop is obviously a losing play, likewise with the 2 outer chasing on the flop for multiple bets.

Why is playing 98s in a [censored] huge multuway pot such a horrible play? And doesn't he have at least 4 outs on the flop?

Where in this hand is villain calling 3 cold?

Re: Official SSSH LC/NC Thread for October!

Absolution,

Villain has about 15% equity preflop. His preflop call is gambling, but it's not that much -EV.

Folding the flop in that spot is wrong imo. He has 4 outs to the nuts and the pot is huge, and there are overcallers as well.

Turn and river are perfectly played.

First off, he didn't call three cold. He was the BB.

Second, the point is that 98s is usually in pretty good shape, equity-wise, in a multiway pot.

Re: Official SSSH LC/NC Thread for October!

OK no more quoting.

I know its LC/NC and I know you hate BB. But folding the flop would be silly not to say terrible. He is looking at odds between 15:1 (no more raising and all calls) and 10:1 (CO caps and MP folds) with 4 outs to the nuts and where any 9, 8, 6, 5 and diamond would improve his draw substantially. Cmon. Do you really think he should fold?

I dunno about preflop. But if I knew that you knew that CO had a huge range I am never folding. I doubt preflop is a huge -EV play.

Pre-flop (see my read) and most likely on the flop. I'm done defending this and I'm going to assume you're all just trying to level me. Enjoy discussing the merits of playing suited connectors for multiple bets.

Re: Official SSSH LC/NC Thread for October!

This is a great spot for something like 98s.

It seems like you hold a big hand. If he flops a draw he likes, he can trap the other villains and, with your help, really pump the pot.

If he flops a draw he doesn't like so much, he will have the odds to draw. Plus, if he backdoors something less obvious than a four-straight, he can trap multiple players for multiple big bets.

I play like this in potentially huge pots all the time.

Its fine you dont want to debate the hand further. I completely understand.

But from this thread I am 99% convinced that you have at least two leaks in your game you need to look at

a) fold less preflop when players are on tilt or just really LAG. Start calling 2, 3 and even 4 bets rather liberally if the pot is going to get multiway. I am not sure about 98s here. But folding JTs, 55 or AJo would be retarded IMO

b) Fold less postflop. The fact that you want BB to fold the flop here is surprising to me. He has a gut on a 3 suited flop with an extra bd straight draw a bd flush draw and runner runner trips/two pair. He is getting at least 10:1 not to mention he is going to win multiple BB's when he hits since there is a monkey in the hand.
