I used to think your feelings were these organs shaped like a kidney, wrinkly like a brain, and about the size of a racquetball. You had 2 of them and they were located inside your chest wall, sort of under your arms. My feelings never got hurt like other kids.

I also used to think that the "distance" was this tinfoil like stuff that covered the earth. It was because when I was maybe 2 or 3 we were on an airplane and my dad pointed out a mountain poking out of the clouds way off in "the distance". I didn't realize they were clouds... i thought it was a mountain poking up out of tin foil.

Cutest thing I've ever read.

I come from a Catholic(Italian) family, so my answer would be God.

I believed that a penny thrown from the Empire State Building would embed in your skull, or the pavement - until I saw Mythbusters debunk it. And I have a degree in physics. Just never thought about it much after 2nd grade.

You know those round rubber door stops with chrome around them on the wall in office buildings? They're right where the doorknob would hit. When I was like 3 or 4, I had a dream where one of those grabbed me. I was scared of them for several years. Whenever I would see one I'd steer as clear as I could.

Believed there was one hair on your head that, if somehow removed, would make you go bald forever and thats why barbers had to go to barber school.

My dad [censored] with me so hard.

That honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. Also that coming clean with the truth would guarantee a less severe punishment. These are obvious devices used by parents to keep on top of their kids, but they get ingrained. These things are often true, but not always. Interestingly, I think there are a lot of adults that still believe these myths.

My mother convinced me that she would "sell me to the gypsies" if I misbehaved. For years I believed that bands of gypsies lived on the outskirts of town, buying small children.
