i'm sorry.. but it's just REALLY HILARIOUS to me that someone can hear something like "ching-chong" and be "really offended"

[/ QUOTE ]

in the wrong context its offensive to me, I can understand people being offended if used as a slur.

[/ QUOTE ]

well yeah, but that's like ANYTHING. the words "ching chong" don't really matter do they? what if i was mocking someone and bowed while slanting my eyes and saying AH-SO! ... same thing. basically it's easy to tell when someone is trying to be deliberately offensive. i hate to just designate certain words or combinations of words as "offensive".. it's almost like asians all over the world got the call from HQ telling them WE SHOULD BE OFFENDED BY THIS STRING OF WORDS!!

It seems like Matt generally operates by the everything is OK policy until someone complains. This time someone complained, oh well. I think it was the Chinese government, we should boycot.

I can understand why somebody with no clue as to the context would find it offensive. I just think that perhaps there's so few of those people around that makes moving the thread a little iffy.
