Obviously a traffic based decision.

I had some German in school, but will respond in English to avoid making a fool of myself.

Maybe there are more people on the forum from Germany and Sweden because their native languages are reasonably close to English so they can understand the forum in English. Therefore, perhaps there is more need for forums in other languages.

German is closer to English than Spanish or French is, and centainly than Chinese. English is structurally a Germanic language and was originally close to north German dialect and Dutch. It gained a lot of French words due to the Norman conquest, as well as Latin technical terms later on. It also lost inflection due Viking invaders having similar words but different infections, and also French conquerors not understanding the subtilties of the language.

I am half joking, but I think there is some truth to the point that some people may not use the forum because they can't understand English.

Germany has a lot more people than Canada, which has great land area, much of which is frozen tundra.

This means a Canadian forum can't be far behind.
