Re: Registration for 1 on 1 political debate threads

i would be interested in debating more or less whatever, i am not an expert in economics but i take some pretty interesting / distinct positions on a lot of other issues. ideally a poster who i respect but tend to differ with would have an idea of something we could discuss.

I don't think you're going to find anyone to argue the pro side of this.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really, that's surprising.

Also, how about,

ACers don't make any sense.

That's ok, isn't it?

[/ QUOTE ]

I accept.

edit: meaning that I will debate with you and take the con side of the statement that ACers dont make sense.

I'd be willing to argue that disagreements over slavery and its future in the US were the most important factor in the outbreak of the Civil War.

Ok, This is what I have so far, I'll update this post as more challenges are made and accepted. I'm not sure yet if Censored wants to run more than one of these challenges at once.

1. The Framers' original intent is the best way to apply/interpret the Constitution:
Pro: bobman0330
Con: Andyfox

2. The US Civil War was fought primarily over slavery:
Pro: Bobman0330
Con: LinusKS

3. The merits of Anarchocapitalism Generally:
Pro: Valenzuela
Con: LinusKS

I'd be happy to participate in any debate, on any topic, against anyone, opposing or supporting anything.

Arguing against your own beliefs can be a fun challenge.

I would do something involving IP protection since it is one of the main problems I have with the AC idea.

I like WillMagic and I know he's on the other side, so I'd discuss with him if he's up for it.

Edit: I guess I should say, I don't think there's really anyone who would argue that slavery was the primary reason for the civil war. Although, I guess I could be wrong.

Anacardo probably would, and would likely win. But he still hasn't posted his Lincoln thing yet, and I doubt he wants to come into this forum very often.

I'd like to sign up for some:

1. Marijuana should be legalized, pro. (And no, I do not smoke marijuana).

2. Activist judges throughout American history have had a positive influence on our laws. Pro.

There might be all of three people who read the forum that think marijuana should be illegal. If you want to argue drugs, trying arguing a harder drug con, you'll have plenty of pro takers.

You can count me as one of the three. Many months ago I got into a bit of a discussion along similar lines and was pilloried by all manner of posters, they came out the woodwork to lambast me. I don't want to be one of the debators for both possible lack of time and possible insufficient debating skills, however quite likely I would chime in on the discussion thread.
