Joe Walsh's "World of Illusion" is a great choice for opening credits in the 40 year old virgin.

Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries in Apocalypse Now.

The cover of that Tears for Fears song at the end of Donnie Darko is pretty good too. edit: the name of the song is Mad World.

Also, the portugese versions of Bowie tunes in Life Aquatic, especially Queen Bitch, are good.

Then there's the classic "More than This" in Lost in Translation.

Either Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous or In Your Eyes in Say Anything...Cameron Crowe rules.

IMO - the use of Tiny Dancer in Almost Famous was one the most cliched & hackneyed use of song in film. You've got a bunch of 'rockers' about to face certain death and they break into a tune by Elton John?

[/ QUOTE ]

They weren't facing certain death at the time they sang this song.

Hopefully already said, but the Requiem For a A Dream theme song (at the end especially, although i think it might of played throughout the movie) It was so good that the LOTR series actually ripped it off of RFAD, i'm sure they paid a lot of money for that.

Still wrong...they sang this one on the bus after Russell's acid trip night, not on the plane. But...if it's cliched, then what are the predecessors?
