But that's only important to newcomers, who if they stay long enough to get interested, will presumably pick up the cultural differences pretty quickly. this is exactly why i suggested Colloquial Confabulation, a synonym of general discussion but with a more "high brow" (for lack of a better term) sound...and an alliteration as a bonus!

I actually don't like the idea of trying to make it sound more highbrow, though. I'm not sure I have a very good reason for this, I just find it aesthetically unpleasing.

The acronym should remain EDF. Excellent Discussion Forum, for example.

"Diablo Style" or

"VIP room" or

"Bolivian Parrot"

(The last can be substituted with any arcane topic that would probably not interest 99% of readers. The idea is that the strange name would itself act as a gatekeeper, and I thinkk it would also be potentially funny if "Bolivian Parrot" (or whatever) was the best discussion forum on 2+2.
