What is the largest # of players to play in big buy-in event overseas? Is it the EPT events? And if so how many players do they get?

[/ QUOTE ]

The most for an EPT Main Event was 480, earlier this month in Barcelona.

[/ QUOTE ]

It sold out. If the venue allowed it there would have been quite a few more.

The EPT in Barcelona was SOLD OUT at 480 due to space availability.

The Barcelona event would have gotten MANY MORE than 480 if space were available.

The poker boom is in full force in Germany and France, driven by TV (The state-run betting monopolies in both countries feel so threatened that they are cracking down on online gaming advertising. Sounds familiar? Europe in 2006 = U.S and Canada in 2004)

Italy and Spain will be next, coming in 2007, with Asia on deck in 2008.

I still predict 9000+ entrants for the 2007 WSOP Main Event, as Harrah's would be incredibly stupid to leave the WSOP in Las Vegas when the online poker boom is in full force in Germany and France now and will hit both Italy and Spain in 2007, with Asia (China in particular) on deck in 2008.

Harrah's will have the option to move the WSOP to a place such as Macau S.A.R., China, the world's #1 gambling destination, after the number of Texas Hold'em players in Asia (China in particular) ramps up to a critical
mass. Harrah's reportedly is interested in purchasing 18% of Galaxy Entertainment, which operates casinos in Macau.

Nobody in the U.S. wants to watch a bunch of foreigner dorks screaming, "DAHHHHHHH" after every fricking hand.

Jamie Gold will likely be the biggest winner to come out of the poker boom. Even if this new bill doesn't amount to much, I think enough people are worried that it will slow down a lot. I would say the number of WSOP ME entrants drops dramatically, but not below 2500. Also, the guys breaking records as the youngest to win one bracelet, or two WSOP bracelets that have been going on the past few years will stop. Once these high school kids can't get online anymore with their twelve accounts and collusion crews they get together with, there will be a lot less 21 year olds with 6 years of poker experience.

The only people entering next year will be Johnny Moss, Doyle Brunson, and the ghost of Stuey Ungar. And yes Olivert, these 3 will square off in China.
