Color me jealous. It's been a number of years since I've been to Seoul. It would be nice to visit again.

# It's Korea! and we're organizing some very cool tourism options like trips to the DMZ and national palaces. You can also come early to enjoy this fascinating city, eat some incredible food (like *fire chicken* and bulgogi) and, if you're so inclined, shop for new technology or fashion. As well, you might consider taking a tour into North Korea to visit Mt. Kumgang - but we're not arranging that - or spend a night in a Buddhist temple;

Just bought myself into the event and planing on some tourist stuff, 2.5k$ tourney is relativly low and i've never been to asia. won't fly over to asia for only 4 days

a 2day guided tour is really awesome and i'd also like one night in a temple, i think i'll do them both, but do they speak english in the temple?

so i plan 4 nights for appt, one night for the guided tour and 1 night for the temple trip and 1 night just for seoul

anything else what i have to see?

Re: APPT Korea

For anyone who played in the APPT Manilla event or has outside knowledge:

How is the blind structure for this event? Seeing that it's only a $2.5k buy-in, I assume it doesn't have the standard 90 minute blind levels that the $10k WPT events offer, but is the structure at least reasonable?

I might try to qualify for this on Stars, but if the structure makes it a complete crapshoot, it would be more about visiting Korea than playing in this tourney...

My girlfriend is from Seoul (Gangbuk-gu specifically, but she's in Vancouver now, I'm going back to Vancouver mid-October) and I'd love to go there some time.

Maybe when I'm baller enough I can play in the APPT Season 2. Seoul seems awesome.

Re: APPT Korea

First post - wuhu, time to give something back to the 2+2 community that I've learned so much from, I'll do this by asking some questions. This might not seem much like giving back, but it's a start.

Qualified to this tournament through a PS 109 DS, actually registered more by mistake than anything as I don't like the double shootouts, but hey.

I've never played a tournament like this before. What would people expect the level of play to be like? Anyone that went to the Manilla APPT that could share some info?

Also, what should I do in Seoul? Will stay in South Korea until Wednesday or Thursday I think. Any advice from the South Koreans on here?

The casino accepts USD, EUR and KRW (Korean Won) currencies, but all games are in KRW. You lock-in your conversion rate when you buy-in, so regardless of whether you're up or down when you're done you will cash-out at the same rate.

Most shops and restaurants accept credit cards, but few places will give you a good exchange rate on USD (and even fewer places will recognize Euro). If you're going out shopping and don't want to use your card, then change some money into KRW first.

Also, note that cabs are really inexpensive - but ask first if you plan to use a card, because some don't accept them.
