Archers of Loaf - White Trash Heroes

No, no, no - if you're going Archers of Loaf, you've *got* to go with Icky Mettle. One of the best indie rock albums ever made. Easily their best one. Amazing. Classic. I'll throw it on right now, in fact...nice.

as far as Matthew Ryan goes, I first came to him thru Concussion and that album blew me clean out of the water -

probably contributed to my drinking issues though

I'd put these 5 down

1. - Vigilantes of Love - Summershine - available for free download 3rd link down from this site
2. - Patty Griffin - Living With Ghosts (phenom songwriter - entire album is one soaring vocal and one sparse guitar)
3. - Kelly Willis - Easy - (though Dom's recommendation is good too - saw her live in 2001 - have a boot I made of it somewhere)
4. - Jackson C. Frank - Blues Run The Game - another great folkie who never got too much attention past his 60's fame - sounds a bit like Nick Drake -
5. - Kate Rusby - 10 -

I downloaed 3 of Zero7's albums after hearing their song "In the Waiting Line"...good stuff, been on a constant playlist for a while now, great great background music. kind of downtempo material.

Tommy Guerrero and Theivery Corp are good as well.

Try Tina Dico and Sia too. They both sing for Zero 7 (Sia notably on Destiny, Tina Dico on Home), and both have really good solo albums.
