This is easy, I make stuff like this on a daily basis.

2 cups milk
2 scoops chocolate whey protein
1 cup oatmeal
1 banana
- OR -
1 cup strawberries/raspberries/etc
3 Tbsp peanut butter
ice

Throw that in the blender and enjoy.

If you don't have any protein powder and don't feel like getting some(get Optimum Nutrition 100% whey), you can use yogurt or cottage cheese for some more protein but you'll have to add honey or chocolate syrup to give it enough flavor.

Are you oat-eaters cooking the oatmeal?

[/ QUOTE ]

char-grilling the oats obviously.

All,

Thanks for the advice. After some experimentation I highly recommend some of the recipes found here:

http://www.cancernutritioninfo.com/main.cfm?id=1335

These two are really easy to make and taste great:

The gf, who has been having lots of fun with the blender, recommends using frozen fruit. What shocks me most about this situation is that even though I've been on a liquid diet my bowel movements seem to indicate that I've been eating lots of fiber. I haven't tried any of the oat smoothies yet so I'm not sure whats going on.

Oh another lesson learned is that Cepacol with benzocaine is a great over-the-counter way to numb throat pain.

wacki, all I would recommend is that you make sure to put some healthy fats in whatever shake you make. Natural peanut butter (not Jif/Skippy) is the way to go; if the shake doesn't really suit peanut butter, put in a tablespoon of olive oil. That's the best way to get lots of calories, and healthy fats are very important.

My breakfast:

- 1 cup oats
- 2 scoops chocolate whey protein powder
- 2 cups milk
- 1 banana
- 1 tbsp natty pb
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- lots of ice

= 1000 calories and tastes really good. I throw in some brocolli too since I hate actually eating vegetables.

this is awesome, tad sweet but good nonetheless

Since this has kind of turned into a protein shake thread - this stuff is amazing. Especially the cinnamon oatmeal. Good for people too lazy to make their own from scratch.

Not necessarily, depends on context. Oils are liquid at room temperature, fats are not. In general you want oils over fats. Think olive oil, not bacon fat. Think vegetable oil, not lard.

we are getting nitty, but saturated fat is solid at room temperature, mono and poly unsaturated fats are not...
