You'd think the biggest NL winner on FTP this year would be able to afford something a little more balla than a 25k car!

infinity G35 coupe 2005-2006

[/ QUOTE ]

I like infi G35s but those are rear wheel. That thing handles like crap in the snow.

[/ QUOTE ]

Comments like this are really ignorant. The G35 has a 52:48 weight balance (50:50 is ideal in the snow) and has one of the best traction control systems in the industry.

In general, as long as you have good snow tires and your car has good weight balance, the difference between AWD/FWD/RWD is marginal so you shouldn't discount RWD cars entirely.

I'm sorry but my buddy who has a G35 spent 40 minutes trying to get up a hill in snow with a G35. My FWD TL made it up the same hill on the first try. He ended up having to call a truck for help because he was blocking an intersection of traffic. I personally like the G35 better but due to a real life experience in the snow, I know better than to comment that they are good in snow. Ignorant comments? Real life testing > what you've been fed by corporations

[/ QUOTE ]

Tell your buddy he's an idiot and needs snow tires. The G35 has summer performance tires on it as stock, and those by nature are awful in the snow.

I have a rear wheel drive car (BMW) and it handles fine in the snow because I got snow tires for the winter.

where do you live? that will help handle the importance of an awd car and rule out rwd cars, if need be.

iowa. it doesn't have to be able to negotiate anything extreme, just safely get around in icy/snowy conditions.

two seconds on carmax and i found a bunch of 04-06 A4s with 30-40K miles for around 25K.

apparently he is smarter than a lot of people who think they need to spend 40 or 60k on a car just because they make a lot of money.

i second the subaru recommendation, those are good cars.

it also depends on how much snow you are talking about. if you live in central MA or something that's a bit different than living in buffalo or MN. i got through a bunch of berkshire winters in a series of crappy 2WD compacts with all-season tires.

hondas and acuras are pretty good too but i have much less experience with them.
