Definitely. He started off around '03 or so with a $200 deposit and put in an absolute [censored] ton of hands online and never really started playing live until his 6th place WPT finish in i think '04 which was from an online sat win, and then went from there. He never became a well known live player really until his Aussie millions FT and then his WPT title is where he ended up signing with FTP.
