This is the exact same list and I thought George Lopez called it "Blender Magazine's list" or whatever.

[/ QUOTE ]
It was.

The show called it the "50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs . . . Ever," implying that while they're not the WORST songs ever made, they're just awesomely bad. It's the "awesome" in "awesomely bad" that makes me not hate them for having 15 of my favorite songs on the list.

I think all of us would disagree with #28.

You can remove pretty much all the 198X songs from that list.

Agree on "Bad day" and "Big yellow taxi" being up there with the worst of the worst.

But the absolut worst song that is for some reason not blocked completely from my mind is:

Daft punk - Around the world.

Nickelback, "Photograph" - embarrassing

Re: \"The Fifty Worse Songs EVER!\"

I find myself agreeing with far more of this list than I would have expected.

We Didn't Start the Fire - ABSOLUTELY BELONGS!!! Probably should be closer to #1.

We Built This City - DEFINITELY. Maybe not #1 but I don't really object to it holding that spot.

I'll be there for you - Definitely deserves consideration for #1 even if it had not been the theme-song for an awful TV show that people idiotically continued to watch somehow not realizing that the show simply was never funny.

That said, naturally there are going to be a couple of personal faves that I'm going to disagree with. Some of the songs are more silly then bad but are still fun.
I'm Too Sexy and Rico Suave are so hilariously silly that you really should be able to enjoy these songs.

I can listen to I'm Too Sexy and laugh.
I'll Be There For You or We Built This City = I wanted to kill myself the first time I heard them and they have the same effect on me to this day.

these are great [censored] songs. i could name about 300 songs off the top of my head that should be on this list before these songs. starting with stuff like:

Gym Class Heroes "girlfriend"
Mims "This is why im hot"
Iron Maiden "The Virus"
anything that Scott Storch has produced
anything that Limp Bizkit has written
the majority of Queensryche songs of the last 10 years.

etc etc etc.

All,

We Built This City was awesome if only for the fact that they had that part where all the radio stations put in their own custom talking part. That's the kind of awesomeness that doesn't exist for kids today!

"Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio"

As has been pointed out already, this isn't a list of worst songs, it's a list of pretty cheesy hit songs.

Yeah, some of these songs are good. And didn't VH1 make a list like this like five years ago and put "We Built This City" on the top? Way to need filler for this month's mag, Blender.

Tuq- the one in that list I really agree with is "Closing Time," because Semisonic's previous album was actually really good, and this was a piece of garbage whose success led them to make more pieces of garbage.

Speaking of Train, "Meet Virginia" is also a complete waste of airtime.

Funny thing is, none of the last three you listed really bother me that much. And I'm certainly not a big fan of Kelly Clarkson or that poseur Avril Lavigne.

Although it's too new to make a list that's four years old, "Hey There Delilah" or whatever it's called by Plain White Tees, which was already brought up, is such a terrible song that it will make a "worst songs" list in the future if it continues to get enough airtime to qualify.

One last thing: kinda surprised that "Ironic" hasn't been mentioned (its not being mentioned may actually be ironic, not sure).

I don't hate any of those (qualification, I am not immediately aware of the Sum 41 and Kearney tracks, but probably would be if I heard them). I actually like the Tunstall song, to be honest.

Anyway, I would be clueless about top hits were it not for the fact that I take spinning class 3-4 times per week and the instructors are always looking for new music to keep things fresh. Thus I am given ample opportunity to listen to hits, and eventually wind up liking some of them.

Train is the most lyrically vapid band I have ever encountered. "Meet Virginia" and "Drops of Jupiter" put me on life tilt every time I hear them. I can't believe they didn't make this list.

I agreed with most of your original addendum, tuk, but that Eve6 song rules.

On Blender's list, I take particular exception to "Two Princes," although I can admit that is my own personal bias at play. It fits the criteria of what they are trying to do with this list rather well, I think.

It'd be pretty sweet if the absence of "Ironic" was some third-level thinking on the part of the Blender staff.
