Jamaica is hiding!

The more Dean moves west the less it seems to want to move north. The NHC has Dean's path well south of Texas and has suspended wind probabilities for everything north of Brownsville. Even there the NHC is only putting a 7% chance of tropical storm force winds.

3 weeks ago I went on a Carnival Conquest cruise out of Galveston. The weather was perfect.. We hit 3 ports - Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Went snorkeling in Jamaica and scuba diving in Cayman and Cozumel. Met alot of wonderful people. Now all 3 ports are gona get hit hard. Jamaica is so poor. Cayman and Cozumel had alot of construction from the last time they got hit by hurricanes. I really feel sorry for all the people who live there, hope they don't get hurt too bad.

I live in Houston.. certainly hope Dean doesn't turn North anytime soon. Looks like it won't but I'm prepared just in case (generator, plywood, food & water, 12 gauge).

i 2 hours south of htown, spent most of the day on the intercostal in port o conor, and it was nice, no rain, no winds, its was only like 95, so it wasnt really that hot.
Barges are still going out, the one we went to fill up today is leaving at like 6am so its apparently safe enough togo back to turks and cacos. nobody is in to big of an uproar.
from everything i have heard, we will be alright so houston should probably go almost un touched

gas prices could be going up to, yes?

I live in Houston and work for Shell.

I can almost sure that games prices will go up.

Just threat of Hurricane Dean has had us slow production in the gulf to a crawl. Plus we have to make up the extra expense of getting people back and forth and hazard pay. Plus it's a prime opportunity to price gouge.
